Distance of an intersection, length of the truck, at 45 miles an hour, 3 seconds the light will be red before the trailer clears the intersection... simple physics.

now for a quick lesson,

The one on the right is an optical sensor. Instead of having to cut the pavement and bury a wire to sense the traffic, they now use an optical sensor that sees the traffic, so the computer can change the light, based upon the flow of traffic..DolphinCove Thanks this. -
just more silly arguments to say why you dont drive defensively
I see more drivers every day driving like 4 wheelers
because dont I know how important they aregpsman Thanks this. -
Of course you don't need evidence because you are always right and everyone else is always wrong I get it, LOL. you want evidence go sit at the 2 pilots in Memphis off 78 and figure it out for yourself.

1st of all, cameras are EVERYWHERE, whether they tell you or not. 2nd, I've heard RLC's are under a lot of scrutiny, because when there's a sign indicating one, there's an increase in rear end collisions. I have a hard believing they work or even are monitored, as in the big city I live in, when my light turns green, I wait, as 3 sometimes 4 cars barrel through on the red, and have seen many accidents at these controlled intersections. Now, the new thing is the numbers on the "don't walk" signs, which I think is a step in the right direction. If you are in an 18,especially loaded, and you blow through a red light, you are probably going too fast.

Depends on where you are--some have quickened the yellow--but they typically take more than one pic the one I got in Haines City fl--had 3 different pics about sec apart--and it took me 6 forevers to get it removed..since at least in that jurisdiction--the hole deal is run by a 3d party contractor in AZ--at least having a FL D/L was helpful in this case--since I contacted the court to dispute--even though that ISNT an option on the ticket you receive from AZ!
In the end I was told the tix is computer generated--and as long as your front wheel is across the line when the light is red--you are busted--fair enough I said--but pic #3 CLEARLY showns me making a RIGHT TURN--and you have no way (with the sequencing) to prove I hadn't been at a FULL STOP before I made the turn.....FL court agreed...still got 2 more summonses from AZ---had to send each one to local jurisdiction to avoid further problems(along with paperwork showing original not guilty outcome)
Overall a MAJOT PITA--for something I didn't do
BTW--I was north on US27--turning right into the Pilot in Haines City.... -
A friend of mine ran a red light and they sent the ticket to the company. He had to pay it. But he wasn't sure if it was him because sometimes he slip seat but usually got the same truck. Still paid it since it didn't affect his license. *ticket sent to the company and company just deducted from his check*

Was it your intent to refute your own argument?ImpurestCrowd said: ↑Click to expand...
It seems the vast majority of motorists still manage to not run red lights when the yellow interval is set to the minimums recommended by the feds, who derive their recommendations directly from ITE.ImpurestCrowd said: ↑Some lights are timed so fast that you don't have time to stop at some intersections. So, we're left with safely assuming those intervals only propose issues for the worst motorists, for whom the required and erected signs warning of automated traffic enforcement are apparently wasted.
The feds recommend yellow intervals be based upon the 85th percentile speed rather than the speed limit, but no state is required to do so, and it would obviously be silly to waste cash conducting speed surveys of every traffic signal approach to satisfy the most oblivious and negligent motorists... who, somehow, it is safe to assume manage not to very often run more than one.
I don't have any problem not even coming close to running a red light because I comply with speed limits. If others do, I say tough luck, learn to drive, see if that helps.TLeaHeart Thanks this. -
I thought it was two seconds for a yellow light at least in Ohio.
