I have mine on all the time with the volume turned pretty low and the range cranked down. Sadly, the days of getting any useful information seem to be waning. Most of it now is truckers ranting about the "gubberment" or commercial company advertising. Yeah, I will call out LEOs, or try to let someone known about an issue with his truck, but its been years since I had one of those good miles-long conversations that make the time fly by in the middle of night. I miss those.

i think it has to do more with other forms of communications and other electronic entertainment. younger folks view the cb as using morses code when the twitter is right now.

It's plenty more old timers then you think... especially the "I'm just doing this for a paycheck until I can retire" bunch.

A former co-driver was from South America so of course Spanish is his primary language. His English is good but heavily accented so you have to listen closely to understand. He liked the usefulness of my CB radio, but not once did he ever pick up the mic to speak into it. I'm sure it was the language barrier which is perhaps why so many drivers don't use them, since so many drivers are of foreign origin. That said, I'll sit back and enjoy my popcorn now!

You know, doing local work for years I always saw india people working in gas station and 7/11. I was surprise when I finally met one on the road! Could of tell because he was yelling in the cb. Before trucking I imagine truckers was button up shirt, cowboy hat and jeans on.

So true, Cat. Then there's the 2 guys chatting about their fantasy women and won't go to a private channel while the bears are feasting (Indiana) or traffic is stacking up. ( Indianapolis) Those long conversations at night on empty highways are special for sure.

The good buddies are using Morse code over the CB to hook up. I'm pretty sure that's what that mic clicking is all about.
