I am a regional driver who usually fuels at our local unmanned fueling station to save the boss $$$$. Recently I got a longer run and had to fuel up to make the return trip. So I stopped at a Love's, got $485 worth of fuel and went in to get my receipt and take a much needed shower. Not. The nice young man behind the counter informed me that I could only shower if I had a Love's loyalty card. That is an outrage. I just spent $485 and they will not give me a shower without having one of their little cards. TA lets anyone who buys 50 gallons shower.
Last time fueling at Love's

That's ridiculous. We got ran off by local police from Tucumcari Loves - they're after your money these days, and that's about all.
-
That's not true, I have bought showers at Loves before without a card. But why not just get the card while you are there?
tirednaz, amiller, TruckDuo and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes, you got burned, definitely. I empathize.
However, this is not the last time that you will be fueling at Love's. Love's is part of the diesel fuel oligarchy. You'll buy fuel wherever it is prudent, cheapest and wherever your boss tells you to fuel.
You our have two choices: call the Love's HQ and see if they will rectify this, or buy your own trucking company and oil refinery.
My advice? Try the first method.
Also: All new drivers need to get all three affinity cards (Pilot, Love's & TA) ASAP.STexan and Captain Canuck Thank this. -
They could have issued you a new loyalty card and applied the fueling to it in maybe 2 minutes and you'd have had a free shower and a few points for later. You could have then thrown the card away if you really feel they are a PITA.
It's their system. When they issue a shower door key they need to either deduct a shower allowance from the loyalty card or ring up a $10 shower sale (or however much they are), one or the other. -
When I tried to get a Pilot card I was told I could only get one if they were a dedicated fuel stop for my company.
-
How we go from Loves to talking about Pilot?
Don't think that really matters for either Loves or Pilot. -
showers aren $13 now. I think. I'm usually home once during the week. so it's been awhile.

That nice young man behind the counter either didn't know what he was talking about or there was a misunderstanding between the two of you. I am with some of the other guys. If you wanted a shower, & didn't have a Loves card "with available shower credits on it", just pay $X & he should have sold you a shower.
As STexan said, he could have issued you a card & added your $485 fuel purchase to it & you would have gotten your free shower.
Again,
1) that nice young man behind the counter didn't know what he was talking about & needs to be better trained on his job OR
2) there was a misunderstanding between the two of you (he didn't understand you wanted a free shower or you didn't understand you could get a free shower with a new Loves card OR
3) you just didn't want a fuel card because you buy fuel at another place, became impatient & left without accepting their card which would have included a free shower.
My advice, next time you go out,
1) get a loves card,
2) get it registered & you can pay at the pump without having to make 2 or 3 trips back & forth to the fuel desk
3) you will be set up & get your free shower without hassle
4) you also get free drink refills
5) you get 1 -5 cents per gallon back on your card that's just like cash for anything in the store. (currently, I have about $300 on my card form fuel purchases)
Then your set from now on when you go out & need fuel, drink refills, 1 cent per gallon payback, pay at the pump & free showers. Even if you only use it once per year, you'll always have these features.Joetro, seamallowance and Mooose Thank this. -
Somebody is a liar. That didn't happen.
Big Duker Thanks this.
