Well. That's that then.
What irks me is that whenever I have an OPINION based on
3rd party knowledge - or personal experience . . . Iron pony or other prime drivers come marching in to bash me back.
I quit. If they're so full of koolaid working for Prime then have at it. Love lease purchasing? Go for it. Stupid.
I get the "arguing and negativity" angle. I actually liked Stiles posts. Didn't always agree.
Everybody wants to hear the truth until it gets too close or personal.
Thinking of going to prime few questions

No body minds the truth, It is very much preferred here. It's just when it turns into a contest, numerous people know who is not telling the truth. And we will certainly defend our company which treats us great. I am not a lease operator so I tend not to comment on those threads. Calling people "stupid" because they choose a lease option is, well, childish. You are welcome here and we will do our absolute best to answer your questions and comments accurately and certainly, truthfully, Please do not stoop to the level of name calling.

As an outsider looking for info on where to start it does seem to be confusing . One of the reasons I have read so many threads on here is to obtain info on what company would be the best fit for . As once being a driver but almost 25 yrs ago , I must the industry is as strange as starting all over again . But I admit thumbing thru so many threads on here along with the pros and cons that you read I am still confused as the company to start with . You read the negatives about a company you had as your num 1 then it drops to your num 3 , then the next time you read negative about the one company you moved into number 1 and so on . All I can say is unless you have the $$$$$ to start you own freakin company and can make your own rules then there is going to be b.s................

Can you have a rider at prime, on a lite truck?
-
yes as long as you get the passenger permit from your FM and can handle having two people in that little truckspartanvalor Thanks this.
-
What does Prime govern their company trucks at? Does Prime pay practical or HHG mover's guide miles? I would also like some info from lease operators. How much is the truck payment? Are lease drivers paid mileage or percentage? Thank you.
-
Well in 4 weeks, Lord willing, I'll have my 2012 Pete with plenty of warranty left paid off. As long as I can scrape up another dollar for the balloon payment.
Love lease purchasing? not really, just one of many ways to get a truck. Am I stupid? well not really sure...could be. What I am sure about tho is that I am happy, very happy, so all is well.JimmyBones, blairandgretchen and 123456 Thank this. -

Read that again. Stupid. Its a one word sentence. Would you prefer ignorant? Nobody called anybody names. I didn't say . .
"Prime drivers are stupid"
Nor . . .
"Lease operators are stupid"
So answer me this. No wait answer the other guy first. HHG or practical miles? Explain the difference this makes to the bottom line too.
Now me, kind sir. See - kind sir, that's nice isn't it. No offended drivers on the Prime thread. Answer me this.
A family member is training with one of your FINE lease operators. He's seen the settlement, and figured the guy will have paid over $270,000 at the end of his lease. The truck is 30,000 miles short of running out of warranty and developing some SERIOUS issues, yet he has another 4 months on his lease.
So - with NOTHING in a maintenance fund, and a policy of "No more than 3 year old tractors in the "Owner Operated" fleet - what does he do? Lease another tractor. So - repeat the process 3 times and pay over $750,000 in less than 10 years for equipment. He says they'll give him a $50,000 bonus for having leased for 10 years. He is really looking forward to that.
Sounds like a SWEEEEEEET deal!
I don't know. Fill me in. Tell me how wrong I got all that 2nd hand info. Tell me why it's a great deal. -
And, Part 2.
This is family members' SECOND time with prime. What happened the first time?
Same deal. Got teamed with a Korean L/O who used him as a 2nd log book, fell asleep while driving, screamed at him . . .
It took ME 4 days to get a return phone call from your safety guy to look into it. Too late. Poor family member lost faith and left. Shame his wife had sold her car and attended CDL school planning to team with him.
Shame they couldn't pay any rent on the house and we picked up the bill. Shame they moved back to Louisiana and did something else for a while. But I'm so pleased the FAMILY member returned to Prime for another shot. Well, they were a last ditch after Western Express, and we all know how that turned out.
But so far, so good. No screamy trainer. No rumble strip while trying to sleep ( or is that train ?).
So I have a personal interest in his experience there. And I can't for the life of me figure out why he would even entertain the thought of a lease purchase. But he did say it. And I told him I'd beat him bloody. I called him stupid. Can I call HIM stupid if he's family? Or does the Prime employee cloak shield him from any potentially soul crushing nasty words?
The Venn diagrams are crossing over.
