Saw the area below Main Street, since was raining, just went to Ma's. Did not try the bread except for the thick toast. Had like $9 cash and they don't take plastic. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast, $6.86 plus dollar tip. Hafta say there's a kind of edginess that comes out in most people around me. Not much edginess at Ma's Bakery. You forget that it's possible to just feel good about people. They have that down good.

Told them was concerned about way I parked, up against curb but still way, way out into Main Street. Old guy says, "Never been an accident on Main Street. Don't worry about it. Enjoy your breakfast."

    So I did.

    Well, my weekend shot to...
--Got my DEL off Friday morning (couldn't DEL before Friday)
--Came home, showered, ready to hit sack and catch up my zzzzzz's
--Dogs barking & chickens announced visitor out front
    --Well-known dump truck/school bus/land owner
--What do I want for some lots I own in town, had for years
--We don't discuss homeless guy and RV parked there 2 weeks now
--Been asked to donate the lots, no one ever asked to buy
--Told him not interested in selling, visibly upset would not give price
--PD called the day after I gave homeless 7-day guest permission
--Then the Sports Complex that has nearby property
--Claimed thought they own my lots, they don't
--Chief of PD called he's involving the Health Department
--So, oh, Hell, called Shalom Center in Bloomington
--No appts, but have to have him there by 3 pm, have to get dressed
--Shalom gets him started on Food Stamp application
--'Once you establish need, other doors open...'
--He has a CPA in town holding some money for him
--And a local atty has had difficulty trying to straighten out
--Has no ID, no driver license, RV is unregistered, not plated
--Only thing he has is Social, 60-years-old, 2 years from Social Security
--Has 3 dogs, will not part with, can't blame him for that!
--Gets into/out of car very slow, taking great care
--Severe, crippling bursitis, probably qualifies for Disability
--Shalom wants next step, Volunteers in Medicine for med eval
--Basically he's pretty cooperative, bad teeth, hygiene
--Shalom case worker tells me in front of him have showers there
--And that he said he does not need... then wrinkles her nose
--Back at 4 lots I start to write him another 7-day guest pass
--Says, well, what about this 48-hour notice?? WHAT 48-HOUR??
--So that morning, Friday, the PD gave him 48-hours to amscray
--Wrote up a 2-page response and distributed Saturday
--Served council-members, left copy at homes, talked to one at her home
--Served PD and long talk with top officer below Chief
--Don't think they will act w/out some further talk and discussion
--Started 'deposition' with him so we know his bio, Q&A time
--Will resume that this morning, probably take 2-3 weekends
--Maybe shouldn't have gone to Wendy's 2 weeks ago
--Let's call him TH, parked there, zero chance no problem with PD
--Continue bio depo this morning and then off to Decatur tonight/afternoon
Sometimes it's not all good. Sometimes it's a royal PIA...

Hi Tai! Hi Ubu! Hi misc! Hi GabeScott! Hi PHX! Hi beemergary! Thx for visiting.

Somebody moved my cheese! Nor did anyone tell me my cheese was going to be moved. Now have to search for my own thread up here in the front row... Has always given me pause how folks found it.

So do mods vote on stuff? Or does one just wake up with a particular burr? May have said this before, like to see a thread with a couple, two or more mods, in a real snit over something. Yeah, that's the ticket... Food fight!

//GabeScott has interesting thread about 'renting' truck (walk-away lease) from Knight as alternative to company driver.

//Good to see DenaliDad tonight, too.

Arrived Decatur, IL Monsanto for pick up tomorrow...
--Been here before but just in case went first to PU location
--Then about a mile to a grocery store for chicken breast, avocado
--Can of Arizona ice tea and jug of water (needed biffy, too)
--Just before 7 am gate will open and a bunch of trucks will rush in
--I'm parked first, in front of gate
--Took less than an hour to load last time
--Last time was $600 to Savanna, IL with discard soy seed
--This time $600 to Muscatine, IA with discard corn seed, $3/mile
--Then on to Prairie du Chien tomorrow for PU there
--Run that load back to Indiana
    --Distracted on drive out tonight
--Speed zone ahead signs normally don't take me by surprise
--Did, repeatedly; no big deal, just came up like without notice
--And that is my notice... of course.

When you don't notice things you notice when fresh and rested...
--Sign of fatigue, distraction, time to think more about driving
--Not what ever's on your mind or until can take a break
--For example, cars and traffic coming up from behind, faster
--Don't want to look over and see someone passing that
--Didn't realize had come up from back there without my noticing early on
--Should know the traffic around truck at all times
--But when tired, a sort of 'tunnel vision' sets in without warning
--The speed zone changes just meant getting on the brake firmer
--Than I usually would, seeing the speed change ahead... or not.
--And because I was tired and distracted, extra focus on driving
--Didn't help a whole lot, distance to run last night was short
--So while I wasn't happy about my 'fatigue', just had to put up with it
--For that short bit of driving.

Normally don't much like music that twangs, requires pointy boots
--Big belt buckle and wide hat to listen to
--Besides, they drive those too heavy trucks, now don't they?
--Decatur twang station is surprisingly good compared to others
--FM 98.1, the GRIZ, too many ads but it's pretty good twang
    --As twangy music goes
--Gate was open at 6:30 Central when I pulled the curtain back
--No other trucks here yet, just one guy in yellow safety vest
--Apparently doesn't have office key, just gate
--Young black guy walks up, then a couple more cars
--Cutie at front desk last trip has the key
--Brought another yellow-vest worker with her
--Time to exit truck as they take their last puffs

    This is trucking after all...
--They have only a few loads this morning
--No other trucks here yet but my rate con does not include PU number
--They want to know we have right load
--Despite that by process of elimination, they have my paperwork
--This is SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), nothing to get 'up' about
--Last week trucker was upset that others got loaded first
--All 8-10 trucks loaded by 8 am except him, oh, well...
--Broker fires up at 7 am Central, so there's a small delay
--Getting magic PU number from North Dakota broker
--Then truck is in Door 10, I'm at driver's room where
--Forklift training video being watched by 4 Monsanto employees
--If they load truck as well as last time, we'll be good

Thx Ebola Guy! And thx for visiting...
--Eligible to drive forklift for Monsanto
--Trainer tells Erin, in charge of my BOLs
    --Passed their Forklift Driver Training
--Can't certify me 'cause I'm not an employee
--By 8:15 am Central pull out on IL 48 or so I think
--After a while realize on 105 instead, well, I went straight
--10 miles and an hour later notice the International dealer
--Have somehow done a full circle through downtown and come back
--Should have turned left on 48, not right, has fooled me before
--But we scale fine at the Pilot just up the street, 79,640
    --Steers 12,060; Drives 33,940; Trailer Tandems 33,640
--When ATS pulls in next to me at first looks like his back in
--Not as clean as mine, then, darn it, he adjusts, smooths it
    --And I take second place

/Hi Brandonpdx! Bumper! Thx for visiting!
