Well last week was my first full year here, and my numbers greatly exceed my expectations. When I hired on over here I was told that making 60K annually was very achievable. My first year here I made $ 63,764.28. That's working M-F, there are guys here who choose to work a 6th day every week, and are making closer to 70k. After running the road for 14 years, I like my home time. The year before coming over here I worked for Abilene out of Richmond, Va. I would generally stay out two weeks and then take 2 to 2.5 days off. That year I was home 74 days out of the year and spent 291 days on the road. In comparison this year I have spent 259 days at the house and slept in the truck only 106 nights. My average check before taxes and all other deductions has been $1226.23.

Needless to to say I'm very pleased with those numbers. Is it a perfect gig? No, but it has been a great year. Schneider does have some policies I don't agree with, but if you find a company that doesn't have a single flaw please let me know.

    Hi Again Runningman

They must be paying you over .50 cents a mile to be making that kind money driving 2000 miles a week?

I get .42 per mile, but we average over $300+ a week on accessorial pay. We get $20 for every loaded container, $10 for a live/unload, $15 detention pay after 2 hours, $ 20 for hazmat, short load pay, etc. etc.

I called Schneider. They said they start their tanker drivers at .36 . I wonder what the Intermodal drivers make? Which type of driver would have more accessory pay?

It all depends on your level of experience as far as your base pay is concerned. As far as tanker accessory pay.... I'm not familiar enough with there system to speak about it.

Hey Runningman, thanks for all your excellent reporting!
How are your benefits; specifically, medical for say two people? How much per month, deductables, and can you choose your own doctors?
