I started driving for Pepsi 3 months ago in Nashville, TN. At first I was excited to get a local gig without having much driving experience. However, I might as well be over the road because I go the whole week without seeing kids as most of us spend anywhere from 14 to 16 hours a day because of the large number of stops and high volume. They told us at orientation that we still have to follow TDOT rules and regulations, and we had a class two weeks about it. Last week is a perfect example of my question: When I clocked in Friday I was at 63 hrs, but they still had me driving and it took 14 hrs to make all stops. Aren't they violating TDOT rules and regulations? To them they do not care that most of us get only 5 hrs of sleep, "Don't come back till truck is empty." I drove and worked 17 hrs yesterday and today they had me leaving at 5 am with a bigger volume.

Driving locally is no different then otr except you sleep in your own bed and use your own shower if you're not too tired and wore out that is.If hey have to follow DOT rules it sounds like they're in violation and if so is what they'll have you start doing is get a room for the night if you run out of hrs.I would deffinately bring that issue up with safety or whoever is in charge.

I worked for a pop company before... exactly the same, it's local you and you probably not even on paper log, just under that 100/150/200miles air radius(forgot the rule)

I get weekends off. I'm trying to find on internet exactly what the rules are. They covered it so fast, but I remember them saying that we are under the same rules. We can only drive so many hrs a week, If we go over 12 hrs in a day we have to fill out a log book, and we only have one day in the week that we can work up to 16 hrs.

Probably do a lot better driving for Cardinal Logistics in Goodlettsville at the Associated Grocers warehouse. Won't be near as tired. Customer unloads and all you do is count pallets.

Now that you took a few minutes to vent on the forums, get back in your truck and deliver your 100,000,000 cases of pepsi pronto

Wouldnt the driver be the one in violation, not the company?? You keep saying *they* are in violation.... if your driving its you in violation.... or am I wrong?

If something happens it's all on you - the company will say you were operating out of procedure, or some similar b.s. Move on from that job and into the wonderful world of BBBB (Big Brothers Black Box). That way at least you'll have a bit of proof that you were coerced into running unreasonable time frames on your EOBR. Oh, wait...we're all guilty - how does freight manage to get from A to B in this country anyway?
