I got out of trucking for a few years, and started back up this feb. so now, after 8 months of so, my back side is just getting sore after all that sitting. After to hours in the seat, I can barley stand to sit on it anymore. I sit on a memory foam pillow sometimes, but that doesnt help much. maybe I should try those wooden mats I see? im 200 lbs right now, put on maybe 10 to 20 lbs.

Try getting out on the 30min. break and work up a sweat moving around truck as much as you can till you cant go any longer.

In addition to taking your wallet out of your back pocket, make sure that NOTHING is in your back pockets when seated in the driver's seat.

I nearly had to quit trucking last year from symptoms like the OP's. It was difficult to climb in or out of the truck. The bone in my left hip and down through my left leg was extremely sore. I tried memory foam and other seat cushions. Finally I tried a Magic Gel cushion and customized it and then it took a few months but the pain went away.

If you start getting pain like this don't fool around and try to tough it out. Figure out a solution quickly.

Even after getting the Magic Gel cushion I still had to figure out a better sitting position. Now I have the seat low and tilted forward for maximum circulation in my legs and have the back upright with maximum lumbar support in the air on my seat. I'm bolt upright as I drive with the steering wheel close enough to let my arms hang down. I'm more alert and relaxed and can drive much longer shifts.

Surfer Joe, Skydivedavec and OPUS 7 Thank this.

I get in and out enough in the course of a day that I don't run into a lot of this (a long drive for me is 90 minutes). The wallet, however, is a biggie. Even a small slim wallet will tilt the base of your spine sideways. A long day of less than perfect roads, and that little tilt to your spine really turns into a problem. That, and the pressure of the front edge of the seat on the back of your legs.
