Things have been busy the last two weeks. We are short handed, so we have drivers from Mass., Pa., and Ga. helping us out. We have finally started to see some Schneider chassis roll in here, they are so nice compared to the POS lease chassis we have been pulling. Supposedly we will have close to 300 by the first of the year. Be safe and have a great weekend.

i've done both local and regional intermodal in Chicago for years, loved it. I prefer regional because i would rarely have to sleep in my truck (once every 2-3 weeks) - my day would usually consist of getting container, going to customer 200 miles, drop& hook and come back to chicago to drop it off at intermodal yard. Did local for 5 years too but got tired running arround chicago day after day. Too bad they closed it for o/o's when crisis hit in 2009 or i would still probably be there.

They once had 3 O/O running intermodal out of Charlotte, but they left when things got slow during the recession. I'm hearing rumors they may open it back up to O/O in the near future. Right now were farming a lot of work out to outside O/O.

This is an example of a typical week for me

Monday- a short drop and hook from Wal- Mart to the rail. Another short load from the rail to Charlotte, and then grabbed an empty from the OC and dheaded to Kingsport, Tn for a live load. Carried that to the rail and made it home for the night.

Tuesday- grabbed a load from the rail for a d/h at Dollar General in Jonesville, SC, grabbed an empty from the customer and carried it back to Norfolk Southern, went over to CSX and grabbed a load going to Fayetteville, NC for a live unload. After getting empty I dheaded back to Charlotte. I slept in my own bed again.

Wednesday- bob tailed to S Boston, Va. to grab an empty. From there I was told to go to Dublin, Va. And swap my empty for a damaged trailer. I got to Dublin, Va., but there was no damaged trailer. So after calling dispatch I was sent to Danville, Va. to drop and hook at IKEA. I carried that back to the CSX ramp and got home again.

Thursday- Grabbed an empty from the OC in Charlotte and went to Randleman, NC for a live load. I carried that back to CSX in Charlotte and then grabbed a loaded box and went to Dollar General in S Boston, Va. For a drop and hook. From there a grabbed an empty and went back to Ikea in Danville, Va. for a drop and hook, and made it back to Charlotte for the night.

Friday- grabbed a loaded box from CSX and have a live unload in Asheboro, NC, from here I have to go to Sanford, NC for a live load and back to CSX in Charlotte. That will be it for the week.

I should finish the week with 2282 miles, and $240 dollars in accessory pay. Not a bad week, and I managed to get home every night. Some weeks I make it home every night and some weeks I might spend two or three nights in the truck. It all averages out in the end.

Nothing new or earth shattering to report. I have had a good couple of weeks, last week I got home every night and this week I've spent two nights in the truck. We were supposed to move to a new yard a few weeks ago, but I guess that fell through. So until we here different we will still park at the OC. Hope everyone has a safe and productive weekend.

Now this is Schneiders intermodal division, we are treated a little better over here. Is he applying on the Van side?

He is going to the van side, which I followed the other thread so not expecting the same story as yours, but we see it at least as a company with potential options!
I will add there are regional and dedicated runs avail in our area that he would prefer over otr.
