they sell them at all the truckstops. about $20 i think is the price. you just gotta figure out where to mount the sensor on the outside.
they suck on battery life though, when you use the light to read the screen at night though. they go forever without using the light. you can plan on changing the battery once a month if you use the light.
i use a zip tie to mount the sensor to the mirror. run wire through the door jam. and zip tie to visor on windshield.double yellow Thanks this. -
One of the "Xgauges" for my scangauge was ambient air temp. Reads about 5* high when the engine is running though...
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Cheap road king or generic truck stop brand works fine. Careful where you place the sensor - away from engine heat draft spots.
Also check garden supply places - greenhouse - or even a HVAC buddy if you have one.
Very handy. Wet? 30 degrees? Mmmmmmmm. Slow down. -

I guess Volvo didn't make that standard until 2003. Been in every 780 I've driven

I have an '01 Volvo and I have my outside temp gauge mounted next to my cb on the dash. Sensor goes into the dash and follows the coax to the door, jam and mirror bracket. Sensor is then zip tied to inside of passenger mirror.

So basically all brands are pretty much the same ??
My T660 K-whopper has one but I really need one on my pickup for winter driving here in the soon to be great white northeast.. -
i like the freightliners. they go DING DING DING everytime it reads 34. CAUTION, ROADS MAY BE ICY.
it's not accurate in the first place, i certainly don't need to be DINGED everytime it says 35 then 34 degrees. specially without one drop of wet on the road. -
Volvo's does that too.
