Sometimes these morons come flying in so fast that even if your paying attention they'll be on top of you quicker than you can blink an eye....so don't fault the victim but he moron driver who committed this uncalled for act...
I am sick and tired of unsafe idiots.

Im not faulting the victim, in the end scheme we are all responsible for our own safety. Its not hard to tell if we are in an unsafe situation. The driver is totally to blame and I hope he spends a significant amount of time devoid of his freedom. But I stand by my original statement.browndawg and Giggles the Original Thank this.

It's the " it's all about me" attitude.
Man things have changed over the years.
I see these morons flying into truck stops everyday.joseph1135 and LGarrison Thank this. -
gunner, you are correct. knowing there are these nuts out there, you have to fully aware of whats going on around you, its a bit like defensive driving, only defensive walking if you will. not faulting the victim, but you better watch out for yourself also.Gunner75, browndawg and Giggles the Original Thank this.

I would not be a bit surprised if he was tryin to get a parking spot because of running out of time on elogs. Condolences to the family.

What a tragedy trying to avoid an elog violation and commits murder
-
no reason to speed to park on elogs. just stop and put yourself offduty, then go park. when i'm walking around, i walk near park vehicle so i can duck under if an issue happens.

While this is a tragic accident let's all take a step back. We don't jump and dive for cover every day in truckstops like some 80's action movie. I've been walking in truckstops for almost 9 years and I can remember one time that I had a "close call" and it wasn't even that close. I don't have a special plan for walking in, I don't have an contingency plan for someone flying by at 30 mph and I seriously doubt anyone else does either. I'm not saying that people sometimes drive fast in truckstops, I'm sure they did it back in the 80's, 70 's or whenever trucking was golden and it rained puppies. But it's hardly an epidemic. And before anyone jumps all over this, I park in the same stops as everyone else, I'm in one now and I'm going to walk inside and I'll be okay. Shoot, if I'm lucky I just might make it back to my truck.

No matter where you are you/we should always be aware of our surroundings. Especially around danger like heavy equipment. This sounds like I'm blaming the victim, I'm not, but if he'd been more alert it just sounds like he could have jumped aside and walked away with a few scrapes and bruises? Sad story, we can all take a lesson from it. I don't know a way to atop those Parking Lot Cowboys.SheepDog Thanks this.
