25 years ago, waiting at a plant to unload for 2 or 3 days was not unusual at irt. Several plants always ordered more juice than they had tankage for.
Burkburnett texas was one, the plant in peterborough, ontario was another. Had to be others I don't remember. The only time you were paid anything was if you sat empty, and the first day was free. It was common to sit a day on the west coast after unloading, or more.
I remember sitting empty in cal for ten days one winter.

    bobthesailor Thanks this.

I just switched to e-logs today. My first load on e-logs leaves tomorrow from the winter haven yard and goes up to Nashville. Don't know how it's going to turn out or what will be different, but we shall see. I'm hoping dispatch will be able to see my logs and my hours on their computer and will dispatch me accordingly. It would be a lot more efficient than always having to call them to get a load.

Ten days in december, think it was early into the second week of the month. 50 empty irt trucks in socal, and only a few loads before xmas.
They still had empty trucks sitting in california at xmas.
The big solution they came up with was to rent vans for the drivers to drive from california, to florida, spend 24 hours at home on xmas day, then they were required to be back in the vans to drive back to california. No pay.

The few who got into the vans emptied out the trucks and jumped ship when they got to florida.

Delivered cream in Nashville last night. Sat all day today. Hope this is all holiday related. Can't afford to do this regularly.

Worked here for a year and a half once before, came back in August. Haven't sat at all since then except for today.
