Disregard anything said about points and the meetings at Poly.
I thought this topic was dead by now and cleared up.
There was a rumor startered in the driver pool
and it was supported by a guy that's been there over 8 years.
It was all false to say the least.
Any questions regarding Poly policy need to be directed
to Poly management , they are quite
willing to answer any questions regarding rumors.
The error was in listening to drivers and their b/s.
There are no points handed out if you can't attend
the meeting due to being away on a load .
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

As far as why I stayed there 10 years, I have mentioned before...it was the occasional glimmer of hope that things were going to improve and the fear of changing to a worse situation...as in "from the frying pan to the fire" scenario...I loathe Crete, and will NEVER find myself in their employ again, but they taught me a valuable lesson and I am not going to do the same thing here that I did there and stick around for years waiting for that glimmer of hope.
I once had the opinion (earlier in this thread) that I would stay at Poly as long as they would have me, but it's funny how going from having money in the bank to barely making minimum payments on everything can change that opinion...why stay OTR when I can make just as good of a living running for a regional company? OTR drivers are compensated more for their sacrifice of being away from their family. Right now, I am sacrificing but not making the better money, so why should I stay?
I am not expecting perfection in a company...I am not qualified to work for one if one existed anyway. I am just looking for a place where I can make the best living I can and pay my bills on time while spending the least amount of time away from home. Right now, Poly isn't doing that. If it's working for you here, great. I wish you all the success in the world, but it isn't working for me and I don't intend on wasting another 10 years of my life waiting on things to come to me...I am going to go look for it. I don't enjoy having to play voice-mail tag with supervisors just to get permission from high-command to leave the premises so I can have a decent meal, a decent shower, and be able to park within a decent walking distance to a bathroom if mother nature calls in the middle of the night. Sitting on the yard eating out of a vending machine, showering in locker room shower that hasn't been cleaned in who knows how long and having to park half way across an 800 acre facility from a restroom and grossing less per year all for the privilege of having the name Poly on my door doesn't make sense to me.
I am not saying Poly is all bad...there are a lot of positives here, but in weighing the good and bad, it is starting to look like I made the wrong decision coming here. I gave it a shot, it didn't work out...no harm-no foul. But I think it's time to pick up the pieces and move on to a company that is a better fit for me. JD said it way back when...Poly isn't for everyone...and I guess I am one of those people.Last edited: Dec 2, 2014
Bumper, 1catfish, tucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I can see they didn't listen at the safety meetings. Backhaul called this morning with my load info. I was in the shower and missed the call. I called back 15 minutes later and left message. It's 4 hrs later and haven't heard back from them. I have called every hour trying to get a hold of them. This part of it does get really old.
Mev Thanks this. -

Well I didn't just roll back to UPN. They sent me from Cedar Falls to Muscatine, IA for a Tuesday pickup. The load is going to St. Paul for Wednesday. Then outbound calls. Had a choice of 4 stopper to VA, a multi-stopper to MI, a multi-stopper to CT or the one I took, a 4 stopper to AL. And that is if I make it, I found a coolant leak this a.m. I tightened a clamp a little, so I hope it is just a cold weather leak and not a crack in the lower radiator.
Does anyone else's auto-start system start the truck, rev up to 1000 rpm for 10-15 seconds, then drop back to idle, then back up to 1000 rpm for the rest of the time it's running? -
Polys not that bad , just don't expect too much or else you become imprisioned by your own expectations.
( This is what it feels like when you expect things from others ......)
I think much of the truck forum runs on this sort of frustration. -
Rule 1, Never pay employees too much, they'll have #### you money and quit.
Rule 2, Lower employees self esteem, they'll feel inferior and never look for a different job.
The mods should merge the other Poly thread to this one. -
Well, think I'm about to call it a day at Poly. I can deal with the shop and most of Poly's quirky bs, but I can't deal with people that don't have the common decency to pick up a phone, or call you back in a timely manner. Backhaul alone is enough to drive me away. Anywho, guess we'll see where I land. There's a real good chance I may leave OTR altogether.

Ok , I've learned my lesson now.
The truck just broke down again
this time it was big , something let loose
under the hood and I had to stop.
I mean it's was HUGE ! , like an explosion.
Im sure I'll be motel bound by tonight.
The lesson is .... if you apply anywhere for a job
first find out what kind of trucks they have.
If they have International Trucks.....tell them , " thanks but no thanks"
I'm now on breakdown number 3 in just under 2 and a half weeks.
(nothing against anyone personally at Poly ) but I'm very tempted to contact my previous boss ,
and say adios to this nonsense.
(They ran KW's , the Paccar MX was glitchy but KW is quality stuff compared to these Intl basket cases)
This is sad , I'm already playing catchup on my miles and didn't get home,
for Thansgiving and now it's broke down again!Bumper Thanks this. -
I finally got the call from backhaul. Picking up in Riceboro today by 6pm. 8:00 am was possible, but when you finally get me the load information, it's too late and the broker wasn't happy. I'll be there in the am to load, but this is getting old. Brokers mad and letting me have it and it's out of my hands. I hate to pile on, but my resume is updated.
