I've had fun with night dispatch the last few nights. Get out of Columbus shop at 7pm sunday night. No MT's at terminal, no big, might find one in the morning, or there's tons of places with preloadeds, including the terminal.
Me: No MTs here, can I get a preplan for a preloaded in the morning?
Dispatch: Can you find an MT?
Me: Columbus is pretty big. You want me to drive around and look? (yeah, I actually put that)
Dispatch: Why don't you talk to Load Planner about finding an MT in the morning?
Me: Maybe I'll get on the road by noon...
Me: There must be something preloaded around, in Columbus or here at the Terminal.
Preplan: In terminal yard, to College Point, NY
    Google: That's in Queens, yo!
Me: HELL NO, THAT'S NYC. I AIN'T GOIN THERE!
Dispatch: But you live in New York...
Me: I live in Central New York. I'm not stupid enough to take a truck into NYC.
Preplan: Something I'd need to wake up no more than 4 hours from now to have in on time.
Me: I've spent too much time playing with you guys to wake up in time to have this on time (This and most of this whole thing is verbatim, lol)
Dispatch: Please just check with load planner in the morning...

Well, nice to know night dispatch is as useless as tits on a log.

StungJoe? We need an update on the oil fields,
I'm rooting for another war, so that we can get crude back up, way up.

    like, is your job secure
are the drilling people getting laid off
and are they choking the wells back?

I've got my final tour....Oak Creek, WI to Trenton, TN then down to Corinth, MS for a load to,McDonough, GA. I'll be at Marietta Friday evening for my wife to pick me up Saturday. My daughter will be induced Monday to have her first child (and our 5th grandchild) Monday or Tuesday.

I really do leave with apprehension and the genuine appreciation toward Crete and especially my AM, Rachel. She has gotten me hone on time virtually every time in the 14 or so months I've been on her board. If I wanted to take an extra day off, no problem...never questioned me about such matters. Never. She takes her job seriously, and I am grateful to her. I also appreciate the opportunity to make more on an annual basis than I have anywhere else. I appreciate not being stuck with innumerable bad trailers. Overall, it's been a pretty good almost three years. I had come to the conclusion that I would have retired here had I not wanted to pursue the eventual opportunity to be an O/O. In February, I'd have been at .49 a mile. All that said, I'm leaving the door open to return if my next adventure fails to impress.

We shall chat soon...take good care...be safe. Please.

Congrats on your new pending addition to the 48 clan.

best of luck on your next adventure as well. Looks like you timed it right. The economy is suppose to pick up faster next year, fuel prices are down and Uncle Obama and the congress just put a hold on the 34hr restrictions as of yesterday, effective immediately...
