This happened on I-94 near the airport this morning. Hope this wasn't our NM driver that chimes in once in a while.

What a way to get sprung on a suspended license!
Food service out of NM? Poor guy - not good. I suspect no lights on stallled vehicle and at night . . . pushed a woman off the road before Christmas in the same circumstance - stalled, middle of road, no lights. Jump started her and followed her home to be sure.
Never said a word to us, let alone thanks. -
While in the Air Force I was coming home one weekend and between the exit for Hot Springs south of Benton and Hot Springs I came around a curve at night time and there setting in the road was a car in my lane, no lights, no nothing. Thankfully I did not hit it serving to the other side of the highway. I stopped and it was a young woman and her car had stalled right on the highway.
I helped her push it off the highway them started checking to see what the problem was, when you would turn the ignition switch it would do nothing. Not long before this she had been in a fender bender and the right fender was bent up a bit. I found that one of the battery cables had been pinched completely into.
At the time I had no knife to get the insulation off the two ends, and she had nothing. I happened to think in my shaving kit I had some razor blades so I got one of them and got the wires twisted together and I had a roll of electric tape and I taped it up. The car started and she got on her way.
One thing for sure we never know whats over the next him nor around the next curve waiting on us in the dark. That was in the last half of 1966 and I suppose with more vehicles on the road today theres more of them stalled just setting waiting to be hit.baha Thanks this. -
Hi bandg, NM (Neenah Menasha) is a freight hauling outfit out of the Appleton area. I don't think they do food service. Mark Steven is the NM driver that chimes in here. I hope it wasn't him.Marksteven and blairandgretchen Thank this.

Hi OHB, I've come across that too. Once, I saw a woman, (sorry ladies, men do dumb things too) standing BEHIND her stalled car in the lane of traffic. I was in my pickup, and barely missed her. I think people, in that situation, just don't know what to do, because it's never happened to them before.

Over in New Mexico one day a car was setting still in the outside lane, fast lane, and here i come. I had to run off the left side of the shoulder to keep from hitting them. For a moment I thought I was going to lose it, I was loaded down with Lettuce.
Yes, I suppose some do not know what to do and others are just pure stupid.
That reminded of another incident in Arizona. They were working on one side of I-10 back this side of Tucson and the other side had two way traffic. As I come up to this I caught us with a u-haul truck.
This truck right in front of me kept crossing the center line by about 6 foot, them sway back over. When we would meet a truck I would warn them & the wreck nearly happned several times.
The trucks coming from the other way told me it was a man and a young boy. A state trooper heard us talking about it on the CB and just shortly after we got out of the construction he stopped him. Never did find out what the problem was I was just happy I did not see them get killed."semi" retired and tucker Thank this. -

The driver of the P/U that was operating under a suspended license and abandoning a vehicle on the Hi=way is in DEEP Crapola. I dont know if our driver was cited or not"semi" retired, Shaggy, browndawg and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thank goodness, Marksteven, even though it must be traumatic for the truck driver, I always worry about stuff like that when I see a company of a member of TTR involved in a crash, because we here are like family. Be careful out there.Marksteven Thanks this.

If there's one thing I can't cotton to it's a vehicle that stalls on the road and comes to a dead stop in less than 1 foot.
-
Hi gpsman, I don't think it stopped in less than a foot, but from what I've witnessed in these situations, is it begins to slow down, and it catches people off guard, and since it probably never happened to them before, don't know what to do, and by the time they realize the vehicle is actually stopping, it's too late to get it over. We have to remember, not all people are truck drivers.
