I just won't to know if the ones that had it done was back on the road in 3 weeks

Yes at first you do, but after a year or so I worked back into more of a normal eating routine.G.Anthony Thanks this.

The big thing you'll be doing most of the day is drinking. You still need to get your fluids in every day, and since you can't drink too soon before or after eating... besides only being able to take small sips at a time (especially in the beginning); you're going to have to make sure you pace yourself.G.Anthony Thanks this.

Ok, I have been a irregular watcher of the Today Show, and Al Roker had the bypass, I thought he has said that he has to eat more times per day, but smaller amounts of food. I think this is a drastic surgery, I have my doubts about it, I have no need for it either, but when ever someone says they need surgery, is this by-pass really worth it, as I have heard on tv, many deaths from it as well. Once I was starting to hear about the deaths, I questioned the validity of such surgery. But I suppose the deaths were something that could have happened for other reasons a person may have had wrong with them?

My wife use to be a nurse for one of the biggest gastro units in the US.
Be very careful about this procedure. You can get infections/die.Its not risk free.
They try to counsel patients, and believe it or not, alot of gastro patients are
truly nuts.
You can cut out all the storage space for food, but if the mind isn't right, they will
just stretch out the new smaller mods the surgeon made. One of my best friends
father in law had it done, and dam near died from the infection that set up.
To answer your original question, yes you can return to work, but its gonna suck
if you have to do a lot of miles wadded up in the same position. Pull over, and do
some walk arounds.Good luck to ya,and stick to it

I think it boils down to eating habits. People want a quick fix, and if they just stopped eating, or ate properly, guess what, you'd lose weight. I was sick with the flu for several weeks, and couldn't eat anything, and I lost 25 lbs. I went to a friends for dinner once, and all the people were overweight, you should have seen these people shoveling it in, I was horrified. Soda too, terrible stuff. I see people buying the extra large "gulpie" of soda, and can't figure out why they are gaining weight. Another friends sister weighed in excess of 500 lbs, she reminded me of "Jabba, the Hutt". She was admitted to a nursing home, and you should have seen what they were feeding her, huge plate of pot roast, potatoes dripping with gravy, big piece of pie, it eventually killed her. So sad.
Hi zaptear, I've known several people that did that, some success, some not so much. Like Big Don sez, it's not a new lease on life to shovel all the junk into your body again. So moderation is the key. Keep some air freshener nearby, as my ex-gf's sister had that done, and I didn't even recognize her, but she said, after the surgery, the gas (and impending stench) was almost overwhelming.
Believe it or not, some young guy recently invented underwear that aborbs the odor of gas. I'll try to Google for the information or maybe you can find it. I read it works 100%.

Hi Chinatown, aw, what fun is that? BTW, how many overweight Asians do you see over there. Not too many, I bet.
