Drivers familiar with certain cities may offer exceptional insight as to local traffic flows and for that reason, should be paid a certain level of attention.

    Excellent point there Coronado!

My brother and I have been going round & round about this for years. He prefers to keep trucking even if its 20+ miles of stop & go traffic. On the other hand I agree with crappiejunkie, I'd rather stop, if my schedule allows it, either eat or nap then hit the road an hour or so later & sail thru at the speed limit:biggrin_25525:.

In most metro areas traffic starts around 330-4pm, and on a Friday maybe 2-3pm.

I for one, have stopped listening to older drivers at the Iron Skillet counter cause they have TOO many stories. You'd spend 1/4 of ya 10 hour break listening to how it was 'back in the day'. Very informative, but also time consuming.

I believe the statement was made about the holidays. Not normal peak hours that we all deal with. Sounded more like the Sunday night Thanksgiving rush that most new drivers never really think about.

Drivers can set you up too. One thing to remember is to never tell someone you don't know where you're going and what you're hauling.

Unless its an older trucker looking for laughs telling you to leave at the wrong time. LOL. Don't think they won't.

I was waiting for paper work with another driver. Mild mannered, Midwest type of guy. Nice. He started off telling me he had been out here 30 years. I was oh yea whats changed in that time. Started off good, then in five minutes time he was a foot from my face. Telling me about the government, black helicopters, UN take over. Frothing at the mouth. Couldn't get away from the guy fast enough. LOL Useful information gained? Zero.

    Sometimes I do get bored.

    Rookies can be cheap entertainment.

    TNMT Thanks this.
