The title reminded me of Dave Thomas in "Strange Brew" (1983). He's speeding downhill when he discovers he has no brakes, so he kicks back, folds his arms and says, "No point in steering now.".

i was in jersey that day, the roads were a mess and it was 40deg when all of this was happening
you would have good traction and then it would be a sheet of glass
the only way to not have an accident was to NOT be on the roads
i was driving slow, but i also have been thru this crap too many times to count
was he driving too fast? or was it that he hit a nice patch? how slow can you do where you dont skid? you can skid at 5mph and slide for hundreds of feetMarksteven, Shaggy, tsavory and 1 other person Thank this. -
As for the comments about just giving up and rolling around,.. I doubt he had any steering after smashing the guardrail,.. that and the shake up alone could have been enough to disorient a person. I doubt anyone here could have done any better.

Um I think he did hit someone. There's a car on fire right after he jump the rail and stop. The car slowly drift into the right of the screen
Also you see the car coming before he jump over and then it disappear -
Those trailers pushing that short wheelbase tractor around, he didn't give up, he had no control after hitting the guard rail. Engine probably died and no power steering.
After watching a few times you notice things you missed at first. The white f-liner across the lanes has his sleeper extension fall off. The car on fire. after Estes opens his door his last trailer gets whacked by a four wheeler. And you know he wasn't paying attention because you only hear a split second of his brakes screech before impact. At end the white f-liner already is moved over to the shoulder and road is open.
I wonder if Jersey troopers gave Estes a ticket for being in the car lanes!Last edited: Jan 20, 2015

It appears to me he ended up in the passenger seat which indicates no seat belt use...
