I say that because there are some that believe bed buggers can't back haha.

    Myself I never had issue,

If you have been bumping docks you shouldn't either

Gotcha. But aren't spreads a fair bit harder to back then tandems? I've never driven a spread....

Spreads don't turn as quick or sharp. However as with any backing maneuver, it's all in your initial setup. You will adjust just fine, naturally in fact. I bounce back and forth from reefer to flat and drop deck. Easy transition

That takes a lot of my worries away then. I need to learn strapping still but that just seems to be "do the minimum, then use the rest of the straps you have just to make sure". It was handling spreads that scared me. I've seen a few guys close to rolling em at truck stops.

Couple two inc straps& ratchets, crowbar, hammer & nails, if you are going to be hauling steel beams (usually different sizes you get to build a bridge to pull the items together or you'll just lean them together and never keep strap or chain tight on it) portable winches work nice to depending on how many your trailer has one I had has 15 but some have 12 but, I always like extra security on loads. Those cheap blue tarps work wonders if you haul plastic pipe for smoke tarping, if you ask most will set that one on ground so you can put it there wrap it quick throw a 4 inch strap there on it and your done.
Some places you can buy a super bag to put on the side that needs smoke tarped also, cost around $5 but usually get $25 for smoke tarp so u still money ahead

Mink oil on your leather gloves will keep your hands dry. I have had the same pair for 6 months now. Water is the enemy of leather gloves.

    Scissors for cutting tarp patches.
A tape measure so you really know how tall the load is.
    A hammer and some nails.
    Some rope is always handy.
Some pre treat stain remover for you laundry. Thoes hi effiency washers can't clean dirty clothes.
A telescoping broom handle for pushing straps through the load is nice. A "happy hooker" will work in a pinch. They sell them inside the truck stop, you'll know when you see one.

A staple gun to tac down plastic in the wind is probably a luxury item and wouldnt get used much.

I have never seen a flatbed outfit think to put softeners on a truck, but if you tare up a set of tarps they will rake you over the coals. I always had some carpet remnants and old wore out straps in a side box, the carpet normally fit nicely under the straps...

I think saw one of those. Outside the truck stop. And I definitely knew it!
