So I was planning on staying out East here for a bit. Delivered in Rhode Island this morning. Now on my way back to Cali. Seems every time I get out east I head straight back to Cali. Guess I'm a sucker for money. I really did want to make the show tho :-/. Well there is always next year.
Truckin Juggalo Thanks this. -
Does Mercer rent out trailers?
I was thinking about joining some other outfit but was told their owner operators are averaging 1.80 for all miles, I don't know if thats low for flatbed or good, I just liked the idea of using their trailers and being able to swap from flat to step, etc. But I want to give Mercer another look. -
Mercer does rent trailers, but you might wanna call ahead to see if they have any available. I know a few months ago they didn't have any trailers available. $1.8 per mile is a good average in current conditions. Maybe its just me, but flatbed freight and rates has dropped significantly since January. Maybe others on here will chime in with what they're seeing.

Mercer has lease to own trailers. Once you decide on what you want that's it but it's yours when it's paid off.

It's called winter. Open deck rates drop every year right after xmas and don't pick up till mid March. This year felt worst than it really was due to the timing of fuel prices dropping like mad. Got to remember, the last two or three years rates have been artificially inflated from high fuel costs.

How is the T680 you got spec'ed horsepower and rear end.
Will they opt for max horse power and change the rear ends from 3.26 to 3.55 or is it an as is take it deal? Im not looking into speed just pulling power and torque.
thx -
Do you care at all about mileage? I mean...If you pull the right freight you don't need all the horsepower and crap. Leave the 48k loads for the mega carriers. Usually pays horribly anyway.
CJndaTruck, Truckin Juggalo and kjoseph Thank this. -
If rates go any lower I'll have to eat bologna 5 times a week instead of 3. It's getting ridiculous.Travelinman Thanks this.
