The thing is all the automakers jumped on the whole JIT thing. Officially it's known as "Just In Time". I know it as "Just In Trouble". Having spent a few decades in manufacturing and sourcing and dealing with JIT and the headaches that can happen in a heartbeat I feel for Blair.

I'd bail on that situation for a week or three and let them sort out their issues. If they've got temps on it, that's a BAD sign in my book. Especially if you aren't seeing any "regulars" leading the bunch. In my experience that means the regulars are trying to distance themselves from an inadequately planned clusterfornication as much as possible. IF your contacts for this run call you back or you call them in a few weeks and find out things are smoother, then pump your prices and go back. Otherwise you'd be far better off running elsewhere.

Yes, it does - but it doesn't make my 'all miles' figures look that good. At least while I'm waiting, I'm not burning any diesel or rubber. I just need to work on my patience.

That's been an eye opener - remembering my days as solo OTR, what we got paid for detention and layover, and now seeing what actually transpires

Yes, they do. Talked to an LEO (that's the company name), that lives by, and does - the Lebanon regularly. He said they're a little slow on loading, and not very helpful. Clinton helps you load and strap, Miami,OK is by far the best - crane load and help loading. Glad you got to GA - STAY there, LOL!

Yup, you're pretty close there. Even more hilarious is the rates out of Nebraska. Folks must have thought I was crazy, reading loads at the Waffle House counter and mumbling - "Are you F***** kidding?" . . . "You want that TARPED for THAT rate?!!!!" . . . . etc.

Have learned the disappointment of the cancelled load - and it's usually the good ones.

It's a fun little exercise in human interaction - I've met some good drivers and LS folks here, chaotic is a good description!

    I now know why tht 08 LTZ cost $43k new . . . .

Funny you say that - they sent me rate con and freight bill for todays load - I found something else to do. So - I emailed back "Busy, not available till 4/29, please call to discuss further scheduling".

Knock me down, paint me blue and stick a feather in my arse if they didn't call minutes later. So, I got hold of the guy that is doing the scheduling (exclusively now), and between him answering 4 questions, 3 phone calls, and forgetting who I was twice, we put me in for Wednesday 6pm. He didn't want to set up any further dates until they had transferred the appointments to a new 'scheduling manager' ( I assume this is software).

Previous to now, they'd been using a shared spreadsheet that would crash 9 times out of 10.

They've sent some folks from corporate in there, as well as the agents who are on it full time. Their biggest mistake was attempting to hire and train temps, who attempted to train each other. They should have had trained staff from the get go.

There have been several drivers who threw their toys out of the cot and left - and there's a definite shortage of trucks on the weekend. I'll attempt a Wednesday Friday Sunday and see how that goes, and see how their new 'scheduling' runs. And take a good book to read.

And in other completely unrelated news . . .

2 or 3 years ago a stray kitten arrived under the deck, and we fed her, shots, spayed etc. We'd go out for 5 days and when we returned the cat would alwys be waiting. Cold harsh winters, hot summers - little survivor. Spent her time inside, OCD cleaning herself. Since Gretchen has ben home, she has been there full time.

She hasn't seen the cat for 2 days now.

I'm depressed. Love that stupid little cat.

Thought about it . . . very early morning.

Rang the wife, and asked her to open the garage door.

A hungry but relieved cat has now been her closest companion for the day . . .

She probably slipped in there, fell asleep on the car cover for the vette, and Gretchen closed the door, and hasn't been in there for 2 days . . .

2 loads of RR wheels, 720 lbs a piece, 60 wheels each load.
Taught me a bit about loading the spread axle, and handling the old girl when heavy.

Both going to Hershey, NE. They hooked me on the round trip rate, problem is a long DH back home, to resume frames on Wednesday.
