Abs is curtain vans. I like to call it training to become a flatbedder lol. Because if you don't strap things they still can't fall out because of the curtains. But, you as earn from ur mistakes if make any. Flat bedding does take some time and patience. Good luck

Boise is a great location to live in for trucking. I-84 is the gateway in and out of the NorthWest. Glad to hear you're passing on that first option. I'm a neat freak too and always clean my truck prior to going home. I like a detailed and fresh clean truck when leaving for the week.

Slip seating is for day cabs and home every night.

    Bring clorox wipes.

I'm still trying to figure out how these drivers park in yards that are half a days drive from home! Is this the norm? Obviously some drivers live closer than others but companies that hire out of areas that are nowhere near their yards.

As mike and I stated above its mostly for day cabs... Unless they are saying. You go on the road and when you get back someone else is taking the truck until your home time is over. Then that will have you sitting more than you want. Not worth it. Job sounds like the only one making money is the company since the truck stays moving while you sit, stay away

The company I spoke with is OTR. Seems like a crappy way to earn a buck.

No kidding, most companies will require a driver live within a certain radius of the terminal. They don't want drivers driving in 5 hours to work 14 hours. The Wal Mart driver that hit Tracey Morgan on the New Jersey Turnpike had started his day some 750 miles away from the Smyrna Delaware DC he drove out of. Apparently he drove in from his home in Georgia and began working. The wreck was at the end of his workday.

Another POTENTIAL danger of slip seating, from what I see, is the POTENTIAL of one of the drivers having ILLEGAL contraband inside the truck. That could SERIOUSLY get the innocent driver in a world of LEGAL trouble.

I am on a home daily account and slip seat... and in my situation it isnt bad... for starters, I live 20 minutes from the terminal.. also the trucks are clean... which as pointed out is not always the case.... the driver I share the truck with is a great guy and we work well together... we keep the truck clean and well maintained. .. we worked out a system that works well... I run the 12pm to 12am shift.. I am generally done and back early.. if I am not gonna get back in time I text or call him and let him know my ETA.. that way he can sit at home and wait and not at the terminal. . He does the for me... we both do pretrips and keep the truck well maintained and well stocked, oil, windshield washer fluid and such...

But again I am home every nignt and off weekends... no way I would want to slip seat OTR... even in a clean truck... just the loading and unloading of my OTR stuff every home time and uncertainty of getting a good clean truck...

And.. when I was OTR and assigned my own truck.. I always insisted on a brand new still in the plasic matress.. not jjst told it was new.. I had to see it in the plastic... but the company matress are cheap.. so I eventually bought myself a good one.. no way I would want to load and unload that every trip out..
