That would seem like bad karma to me, you know, careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Unless you have something you want flagged for some reason.

If I was an inspector with a bad attitude, and I thought you were doing it just for the extra pay, I might be inclined to make sure I find something to ruin your day. So much for the extra $50, why are you wasting my time, kind of thing.

But then again, I'm older and cynical.

 

I think this is one reason why companies shouldn't pay for something that is part of the job - to make sure the truck is inspected daily and fixed if needed.

 

CSA has changed everything. When a shipper won't load a carrier's trucks because they have a higher CSA score than this other carrier, something needs to be done when you're a company owner and actual business is being lost. So just like the olden days of paying the mafia goons once a week to *not* burn down your business, you pay a few bucks here and there to stay in business.

 

Its all because they change that #### sticker color in the window.

"No officer I didn't pass you at 75 mph it was 110 mph. Hey!! Why you dragging me out of the truck!!

 

You wouldn't holler for an inspection from the scale. If you get the green light, you'd park the truck and walk in with your permit book and trailer registration and politely ask for a level one.

Seems like a really stupid idea if you ask me. These DOT can write you up for anything. They love the chaffed air line on color coated air lines. Heck, a light could burn out just as you turn them on and boom, OOS, ticket, and CSA points.

I'd find better ways to make an extra buck.

 

Asking for an inspection is like Russian roulette. I'd like to see the look on their face when they meet the "all buisness" disgruntled DOT violation slinger.

 

People come on here and whine about being pawns for trucking, and then talk about scamming?

How low class can you get?

 

Those stickers don't mean a #### thing. I'd gone YEARS without being inspected until one day in a bit of a time crunch rolled across a set of scales a bit heavy on the trailer. Got sent around to the inspection bay where I passed a level 1 with flying colors. Got an award for the overweight axle, and those stickers for the truck and trailer. Shifted the weight and was on my way again.

Over the next 2 months, I got inspected 4 more times...each time the officer finding some nit-picky thing to ding me for, almost like they saw those stickers as a challenge to find something the previous inspector had missed.

I scraped those stickers off and went a few more years before my next inspection.

As far as I'm concerned, they can keep their #### stickers. If they put one on my truck, it'll be removed before I roll out.

 

Yup. You can take a brand new truck with less than 20 miles on the odometer, and if the officer WANTS to find something wrong, he will.
