Werner or Stevens!?

IVE worked for both stevens 3 months and werner for 9 months i would say werner is better but werner sucks to im qutting in 3 weeks to go to DHT

 

If for no other reason I wouldn't work for Werner because they are Werner.

And Stevens well, good luck. Yes I hear their training program is good, but that's about all I hear.

And like you said at 12 months with Melton you go to 46. What do you go to at Stevens? I called them a month ago just to see what I could get and they said 33-34.

 

No stevens is not BS, just because you are in a dock, it is still NO TOUCH Freight.... the driver does not unload the freight. Drop and hook is a different story, and stevens does a lot of drop and hook also. Stevens also took over the entire Kraft dedicated fleet, which is all drop and hook.

I rarely if ever set in line for a trailer washout... I carried an 18volt rechargable leaf blower, and blew the trailers out. Was never rejected anywhere, even at uncle walleys that require a wash out receipt.... Uncle walley is on long island, and there is ONE washout location...

 

Now it comes down to what will work for you. Stevens, starts low, and stays lower than most. Their business model is training, they do not expect drivers to stay, and there fore do not offer incentives to stay. Want a good probability of good training, stevens, nothing is guaranteed.

Prefer not to change companies after a year, them maybe melton, and flat bed is for you. Either way the first 6 months will be a struggle, and a massive life change for you and the family. 90% of new drivers have left trucking within the first year.

 

I didn't mention anything about unloading, just BS about "freight is 100% drop and hook". I saw them in docks all over the place.

 

They are 100% no touch freight, and the Kraft fleet is 100% drop and hook.

 

You say get on with coke, around here coke and pepsi don't require two years experience. They take anyone with a CDL.

Just remember the best thought out plans change when slapped with reality.

 

I wouldn't even wake up for .34cpm, that's not where the money is. Both of those companies suck, can't even drive speed limit. Companies are paying .40-55cpm now, dont settle for peanuts.
