Hello TTR good day to you all guys and gals. I hope this message finds you all in good health and spirit. Alright here's the question. So, I just picked up a 53' great dane reefer, everything checked out and looked okay when we went to go kick the tires. Picked up the first shipment with it today and noticed that once loaded, the trailer is leaning to the right(passenger). Do any of you know what could possibly cause a trailer to lean to one side? The freight is not an issue as this is a frequent customer. Fifth wheel coupling checks out. A visual inspection of the under carriage revealed no readily identifiable causes for this issue. The cross members look okay, no audible air leak, air bag seem okay. So, anybody care to take a stab?

If it sits level MT and leans when loaded its most likely suspension binding up.
lots of character and RedForeman Thank this. -
Hi Vintage, you didn't say if it had air ride or spring, but it's probably air, if it's leaning. Definitely an air bag issue. When I worked for the egg company, we had some really tired Kohl's trailers that had early air ride, and that was a constant situation. The old trailers if I'm not mistaken, used 2 leveling valves, 1 for each axle, but I'm sure they just use 1 now for both. If 1 or both bags don't look like the other side, the valve or perhaps a line. I'd look into that, as on a curve, loaded, that could cause a problem.

Common problem with 5-6 year old hendrickson suspension. Bushings seize up and don't allow full travel. Just stop at a shop that has a bumper lift. Raise it real slow and you'll find one wheel position that comes off the ground before the others. That's the seized bushing.

Tell the immigrants inside of it that they need to spread out instead of all sitting on one side.
