They seem to be moving in that direction because of the mpg. I imagine though that they will never get rid of all the manual transmissions though.

We both have the mutual understanding that your husband drives for them. You stated, "You spoke to the FM about the miles". My wife went with me for a short time, and they wouldn't speak to her, because she's not an employee of Conway Truckload, because they told her that I would have to call them. I'm not understanding how they only speak to you, and not the driver, so he can vouce his concerns.

Lastly, when they tell you it's been a slow time. If they said right after Christmas if they said that freight is slow, I woupd u byYou are generally running hard around this time, and not slowing. Whomever your fleet manager is basically lying to you. Fleet Managers have a certain amount of drivers that have to get at least 10,000 miles a month, or they get in trouble. 3 weeks in a row low miles. He needs to call them on the second week, and not the 3rd week. Why wait that long to voice your concerns about low miles?

When I said I spoke to them I was meaning my husband spoke with them, why that makes a big deal not sure, since both of us are on here, and also he has spoke with her every week, he's not just going to keep going without speaking to her, but when loads get pulled or cancels after she has left for the day it's alittle hard to put the blame on her, and if FM are suppose to get their drivers at least 10,000 miles amonth then there would be alot of FM in trouble, I've spoke with several drivers that are not getting that right now.

I thought your husband was switching to Freight?

By the way, for anyone thinking about jumping ship to owner operator, I would advise against it. Its been a year since I left the small blue screw and I probably would have been better off (financially) sticking it out and putting that o/o money towards another rental property. It may still work out better in the longer term, but the extra "freedom" comes with plenty of extra hassle...

He is still planning on switching just waiting on afew things to get paid off from when we were O/O before switching right now we pretty much live on the truck so we're trying to save as much as we can, we were hoping to move over in August but it might be a little later, thankfully they are still needing linehaul drivers and they're going to be opening up afew new line haul route. My hubby just hit 3 years with Conway on the 11th, excited about that 2 wks vacation pay, also holding out to get the productive bonus next month.

Hope you're doing good Double Yellow !!

Double Yellow brings up a good point. Unless you have quite a bit in the nest egg just for your truck. I'm telling you from experience. You will not survive the Owner Operator side of the trucking industry. Unless you are making at least $2.50/ mile. You're not making any money as an Owner Operator. They throw them dollar signs out there to make it sound enticing. What they don't tell you is when that truck is in the shop for a week. You aren't making any money. At that point you are not making any money. You will automatically begin being upside down. Buying tires will wipe out your escrow account, or come close. It will in fact put a huge strain on your marriage. I had something to fall back on during hard times, and that was my military pension, but I realized before it was too late on how much it puts a strain on a marriage. I'm sure you love your husband dearly, just like I do my wife, and kids. Talk it over again with your husband and go from there.

The whole auctioneer thing ain't going so great. Sure I'm getting my underbid cut but didn't realize how many there were in the area.

Decided I'm gonna go try and get into the north woods league next year. Gotta make one last go at it before I just call it a paying hobby.

Have a lot of those it seems. Paying hobbies. IMG_20150610_202309_441.jpg
