Took the new baby out and after 800 miles the rear axle on both sides was spitting oil out the ends of the axle.Took it in to a dealership that's a group from where we got it from. They were wondering if the selling dealer checked it out pre delivery. The excuse from the selling dealer was that the trucker that delivers the tractors is responsible for slapping the axles back in when dropping at the dealer. OK. You'd think the dealer should check this work, no? Had i been DOT'd in the 800 miles I'd of been OOS. To add insult, when I picked it up whomever fixed it did a real half assed job cleaning up the mess. The pics show how they care about the customer. Mind you, this is not good. If you bought a BMW that was $130K and had a wheel seal go out and they fixed it and gave it back to the customer like this, would you squeal? I'm stuck at this place for maintenance.

Whats the name of shop that did or tryed to seal the axel?

30 minutes with some cleaner and a pressure washer would have had a much better looking job.
Add it to the growing list of 'couldn't give a *%@#" service providers.bucksnort Thanks this. -
Sounds like an issue for the regional rep. And I don't believe that baloney about the driver and the axles. I didn't think they did anything but deliver the trucks, at least the guys I talked to, and the dealer took them down and got them ready.

PDI on a new truck should take 3.5-4.5 hours. Multi-page check list. But that is pretty common on trucks decked in. I like mine with a thousand or so miles on it. Anything that made it off the line will have rattled loose by then. I get the shakes when a new one comes to me with 30-40 miles on it.

I had to reinstall axles and undeck many times when I ran decksets. That said... its STILL the dealership's responsibility to prep the truck. I bet they check fluids and not just trust the factory.

Hi Keith, the only reason I say that, is I inquired about a job hauling tractors, and I asked if I was responsible for breaking them down, and they said no, just get the unit to the dealer, and grab a taxi to the airport. I think it may have been a legal issue. Maybe other places are different, but that's what they told me. It paid peanuts, so I didn't take it, plus dealing with airports all the time, no thanks.

No offense, but would you really trust a guy slapping the axles back in and calling it a day and driving off into the sunset?
201 Thanks this. -
Hi bucksnort, I bet that's exactly what happened to you. Besides, aren't the front tires, and stacks ( if so equipped) removed as well? What, are you supposed to bolt them on too right away?
