I don't get excited over whatever policies a shipper or receiver has for drivers when being loaded or unloaded. Some places you just back in and then you take a nap or whatever until they knock on the door and say you're good to go. Others have the driver come inside, etc. I was at a place and did something I haven't seen before. They had me disconnect the air lines then they put the lock out tag out on the trailer. And the place had a dock lock and I had to chock the tires.

I don't mind, nothing wrong with being safe, but I'm not sure if this is necessary. Has there been a problem with drivers pulling out of docks before they were supposed to?

There have been a couple videos posted on this site that show a driver pulling out with a forklift in the trailer. So as strange as it may seem i guess it happens.

I've had quite a few like this. Surprised you haven't seen it before. I've had a couple that were the same dock lock, chocks, airline lock and they make you drop the trailer and pull a few feet in front of it

I've had to take my air line off a couple times with a flatbed.

not only that, MJ. but they put a lock on the glad hand and take your ignition key.
it could be about corporate lawyers. but that shouldn't be our concern.

human safety should be our concern.

Was at a rig builder this week. When out of the trk. you shut it off or chock your wheels. When moving the trk. forward or backwards
you had to blow the air horn.
Reason is they had a worker get killed 2 years ago by a trk. backing up.
This place is busy with people and equipment moving at all times

I had 1 with some high tech wheel choke, if you don't put the choke close enough they can't open the door. I usually give a small gap like half an ich so the tire don't get stuck on it while unloading or loading. It came with a bar so drivers can push the choke out since it does get stuck
