This is why carriers love to lease equipment to "driver-contractors" ... things slow down? No skin off their nose, that's the drivers problem now, we don't have to pay insurance, salary, note, etc every month because we shifted all the liability to the contractor and we, the carrier reaps all the rewards when things are good, but assume no risks/losses when things slow down.
Why is this so hard to understand for some? Sure, a few will manage Ok, but there is only a finite amount of freight to assign to the trucks and when freight slows down, somebody is going to feel it. Maybe you're in that sweet location and/or in that sweet lane but can't everybody be there. Somebody is going to take it on the chin.
And it goes without saying, that some set themselves up for failure and do not work hard enough to keep themselves in the best possible position to keep moving. Then there's some who want big paychecks at a low per-mile outfit, and expect them to come when they're at home 2-3 days a week watching television

I hope they get back to giving me consistent loads but don't try to say it's my fault I'm always available and never sit by my choice I'm Eagan short haul n I only go home for 36-40 hrs a week it used to get me 2800 miles a week on average n now I only got 8000 mile last month n I didn't miss 1 day of work
