Love the ones who think they need to set a NEW LAND SPEED RECORD and then sit and cry about waiting 2 hours( without being paid ) to get unloaded because they arrived ahead of their appointment.

You will never run the max number of hours all day every day.Sometimes people actually have to stop and make deliveries and fuel and such.
Truck A runs 60MPh so you could say
60mphx11 hrs= 660 miles and we'll take .43cpm so 660 miles x.43cpm=$283.80 a day
Truck B runs 70mphx11hrs=770/day at .43cpm=$331.10 a day
if you are a company driver then fuel costs mean nothing to you and it seems the 70mph truck is the better deal.
Now take into account that neither of these 2 situations will ever happen as you will never average either of these speeds for 11 hrs a day with your truck governed at said speed. Also take into account that one company may have all the miles you can handle while the other struggles to get you 2000 miles a week.Does your speed help when there are no miles available?
Same scenario
Truck A runs 57mph x 10hrs= 570 miles at .43cpm=$245.10/day
Truck A's company runs him 2500miles/week x .43cpm=$1075/week
Truck B runs 67mphx 10hrs=670 miles at .43cpm=$288.10/day
but truck B's company has him sitting a day here or a day there and he only gets 2000 miles that week so 2000milesx.43cpm=$860/week
Slower trucks and the fuel savings derived from that are to benefit the company you are working for.Depending on the company makes all the difference if they use these savings to benefit the driver and the company or to benefit the shareholders and CEO's.JV_620, dieseltrooper, Chucktshoes and 1 other person Thank this. -

Now that's SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW regardless who you drive for

Obviously you won't average the 62. Obviously you won't drive for 11 hours straight. The fact that you think you're being smart pointing that out I don't understand.
Also I was referring to starting wages, where most mega starters are around the 35cpm mark if not lower (Schneider, Swift, Werner, etc...)
I'm clearly not saying Prime pays more than anyone else, I think many of you misinterpreted the intent of this thread.
All I was implying was that at starter wages, Prime's trucks are equal to if not greater than faster trucks as far as income. Clearly that's neglecting how many miles you run.
With how technical some of you guys are getting over this I'm surprised you're all not in law school haha -

You would think your post was "obvious" but you have to remember some people reading this are going to be people interested in trucking but don't know anything about it or a person still in truck school.I know lots of people that still ask me all kinds of "obvious" questions.Take into consideration this is a forum to help people get answers to their questions and some will read your post and start thinking of the big money they'll be making driving 11 hours a day.My response to your post was meant to help because sometimes things aren't straight forward in this profession.

I only drive 11 hours a day when I'm headed home across i40 in tn and nc running 65mph when I could, and lord knows what slow speeds I was running going up the mountains, I did 655 miles using 10 hours and 56 minutes of my drive time. Granted Id like to be governed at 65mph but you give me a company that allows my two dogs and that I'm governed at 70 or higher then we will talk, oh.. and good luck finding that company, think I'll be staying with prime running 65mph for a while.

Casanova we've done this thread before many times 9 out 10 of those times it winds in an argument and gets locked by admins. If your going to work here on the company side then you will be one of the slowest on the road and your not going to make any friends because of it. However you will be one of the best paid rookie drivers on the road as well. So many have such a heated reaction and about the speed issue. Just gotta to take it with a grain of salt. Coming here posting about it just winds up in an argument.
michaelg, Chucktshoes and darthanubis Thank this.
