Considering going O/O and would like to know how some of you who run long hood trucks are doing it. I'd love to get a more traditional truck (glider) vs a new aero truck if I can. See quite a few on the road and looking for some advice.

If you figure out how to make real money in trucking you can drive whatever you want ...the second half to that (which I fail at) is actually doing enough work to sustain a large monthly payment. I'll take my 12 days off a month rather than work more be home less but have a cool truck. When the day comes, yes, I will buy a new hood. But I'm trying to keep that day from coming any time soon lol

You get a little better rate for reefer (usually), but one still has to drive the truck to get decent mileage, cut idling, and all the other things. Most guys with a nice Pete or KW have had a couple trucks along the way, some not as nice I'm almost certain. It's something you earn by putting in the time and hard work, and learning self discipline

Thanks I completely agree with that, in a newer DEF truck across all reefer miles (usually fat) I'm getting 8.1 as an average.
From what I am hearing the drivers who go with a hood are getting a good rate, likely in the 2's and they are willing to take a hit on profit likely because the truck is paid for or nearly paid for or their personal finances allow it.
Hey I may end up being able to live with the $7 grand in fuel I loose out on, but somehow I doubt it. Thanks for taking time to reply. -
key to success in any truck is good brokers or shipper if u lucky enough to line it up everybody i know is getting rid of our older petes and getting gliders its the way to go if u have the freight to haul and stay busy good luck.
