1 time on i-20 west out of GA. I was empty got to the scales sign lit up pull to the right & bring all paper work inside. I pulled over parked. got all my paperwork, went inside, saw no one. I called out, walked thru the place. found no one. walked out side. around back about 400 ft away from the building A state trooper was at a car.talking to a woman.
he asked could he help me? I said the scale light came on & told me to pull in with my paper work. he just kinda rolled his eyes, said sorry, just go on that thing lights up randomly. -
On the 495 in MD near 95 outside of Baltimore I had to go in and kept following the scale signs as it was around midnight and was packed with trucks. After seeing the same sign twice I exited w/ no problems. There was a run down trailer that I guess was the office but never saw anything resembling a scale there.

The GA ones on I-75 at the Tenn. line are real bad. I pull hazmat so I have to go to the rear. The sign in back says stop and listen for directions. Several times the officer has told me rudely that the green light will not get any greener. I bite my tongue and answer yes sir I know but your sign says listen for directions not proceed on green.
tucker Thanks this. -
GA has been set for "all trucks in" for quite a while. Someone said that they had too many bypass', and they want to see how many prepass trucks that would normally get the green were actually too heavy. I got pulled in (red lighted)to the Pensacola cabbage cop station a while back, which is odd...we only haul trash bags and plastic sheeting into FL and never haul agriculture...ever. guess it was brussel sprout day at the cabbage cop stand (a.k.a. rookie training day)

Sounds like a relative of the lady that use to work the south bound Seymour IN scales. In most states, if they want you to pull on and stop, they flip to red after the previous trucks clears...then if you're legal, green...not there, as I was pulling on the red lighted empty scale, she came out and threw a fit because I didn't know what a red light meant...after I explained that most states...yadayada...she rudely replied, this isn't most states, this is Indiana...to which I replied 'ahhhh so, so that is what they call Hoosier Hospitality, I get it, no wonder my mom ran away from her Indiana home at 15'...she told me to get off her scale....can't say I'm sorry to see she lost her job when they closed that one down.
