My first job for three years was 1099 dedicated run Colorado to Sacramento 900-1000 weekly made over 50 60k+ and the most I paid back In taxes so far was 1500. If you can't save 1200-2000/year for taxes out of 50+k then you need help lol least I paid was 400 after claims.

If you're driving his truck, going where he wants you to, when he wants you to. You're not a contractor, you're an employee. What he wants to do isnt even legal though it is rarely enforced. In my opinion it's the sign of a shady deal and this probably isn't the only place in his operations he cuts corners or will expect you to cut corners. Just my .02

Automactic transmissions are great! I drove one for a couple of months pulling hazmat/tankers coast to coast and wasn't exhausted at the end of the day like driving a stick shift. Very relaxing. I really liked it pulling mountains; just sit back and enjoy my coffee and xm radio and let the transmission do the shifting. Many companies are switching to automatics due to better fuel economy.

There is multiple opinions here. Like mine is I wouldn't think twice about it. If it seems good and you're home every few days for a night or two then why not read his little contract and quit if you don't like it. @Chinatown is right nothin wrong with automatic. They're easy to drive the older 07 08 are a little rough but other than that still simple.

I would be doing a lot of research on this O/O before making any commitment.
