Wondering if I need a new air compressor. When sitting at an idle my truck will not build up any pressure at all. I have to bump the idle up to 1,500 rpms and it takes a while.
This next problem was strange until my mechanic figured it out. I had a hole in my trailer air tank so I was losing pressure all the time. If I was on flat ground doing 65 it would not build any pressure at all until I hit a hill and the truck started to hump it up the hill. This was confusing to me and until my mechanic explained it to me. I had no idea the compressor got it's air from the boost. So, the problem is that the truck won't build any pressure unless there is boost. I could be totally out of air going up a hill and when that boost kicks in that needle goes at Mach 10 and builds up pressure in seconds.
