S.F. pedestrian crushed trying to walk under big-rig trailer
A 47-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when he tried to walk under the trailer of a turning big-rig in the South of Market area in San Francisco, police said Monday.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday at Howard and Fremont streets.

Police said a semi-truck with two trailers was making a turn at the intersection. Instead of waiting for the truck to pass, the pedestrian attempted to walk under the rear trailer and was hit and dragged a short distance, police said.

The truck driver stopped and remained at the scene. The injured man suffered a crushed leg and other critical injuries. He was being treated at San Francisco General Hospital.

It remained unclear Monday why the man tried to walk under the trailer.

"If the truck had trailer skirts this tragic and senseless accident would never have happened, Your Honor! We're suing for $200 million!"

Maybe it was a horrible mix of good Cali bud, walkie talkie on the cell phone and the 'screw you, me first' selfish mentality everyone has adopted.

Or maybe you can't fix stupid.

Thump-thump...oh crap, was that my truck or the road. Better back up and check...Thump-thump...whew, it was the road...time to make the donuts.

Maybe it was another case of suicide by truck, but being the liberal west, the guy didn't want to use a car...even in a suicide attempt he was going green.
