I drive a Peterbilt and there is nothing special about it. The 386 chassis is rock solid and well built. Other than that, it's narrower than my F-150 and still suffers from the same problems as all the other makes. I can easily reach over and open the passenger door while still belted into the drivers seat. Listening to these guys talk about Peterbilts and how great they are, and then to actually get in one....meh.
The correct way to quit Knight Transportation.

I drove a 379 in the 90's and HATED the freaking thing. I celebrated when I quit that carrier and was given a FLD Condo I was like ROOM where have you been all my life. Then I was put in a Century Class Condo and thought I had died and went to Heaven.
Rex012 Thanks this. -
The sad part is the more I read this thread the more I agree, but there in lies the problem there seems to be alot more "Kids" in this thread then Adults. Just a sign of the times I guess, Bunch of idiots cheering on another idiot kind reminds me of collage with alot less naked girls.

Truth be told, Knight has been decent to me. Before I bought a truck they were paying me .43cpm + my perfom, fuel and safety bonus. I made decent money with Knight and had a pleasant experience with my terminal. They got me home when I needed to be and always took care of me if I was delayed anywhere.
I know not everyone experience is going match mine, but I also wonder how much of this is caused by the driver him self. Negative side to this board you only ever get one side of the story. -
To each his own, If you are happy working in a sweatshop on wheels then by all means continue. If you are happy being a SLAVE, making SLAVE wages for a company that knows you only as a number then by all means continue. Honestly to me, the real idiots are the people who refuse to stand up for themselves, refuse to accept wages that reflect the real value of their work. This is one reason why our country has gone to ####, people slave away their lives refusing to believe they are in control on how much they make, only to give it away to someone who is only slightly less retarded then them so they can get rich. Trucking has one of the lowest barriers of entry of any capital intensive business. It is so easy to go out on your own, so it baffles me why thousands of drivers slave away and become lifers at company's like Knight and think it is the best thing they can do.

You toss about the term "slave" and "retarded" as if someone that hasn't followed your path to success is somehow beneath you. You know nothing of the lives of the people around you, what challenges they face or what drives or motivates them. You denigrate people that work at Knight even though they've told you they make a comfortable living there. You seem to weigh everything with a dollar scale without realizing that's not every ones motivation in life. The reason our country is going to #### is not because of our work ethic, it's because we don't seem to be able to except peoples differences. People who look different, talk different, have different religious or cultural beliefs, people who are not us.

Being a slave and making slave wages ? When I was a company driver I had no problem clearing over 75k with them the last year I was a company driver with them. Last I checked that's a decent wage, especially hauling refrigerated goods for a mega. I was never a number, everyone in my office knows me by name and I never have to state my truck number when I call in. When I do have a problem the issue got resolved and we move on.
TBH, Your story in general seems like a load of BS (Other then how you quit) But I have gave you the benefit of the doubt and moved on because frankly who am I to judge. Your best bet would not to come here and attempt to judge anyone. Because just like you you have no idea of anyone's situation or background.
The image below is this weeks settlement, Those sweatshop wages are really getting to me. Meh to each his own.

Rex012 and Chewbongka Thank this. -
What is that $1.07 per mile? $2300....fuel $600, truck payment $500 leaving $1200 and you still have to pay tax and have no health insurance?
But yes to each their own. I feel those are toilet wages and a big part of the reason as to why so many people live in their truck. Not that they want to, they have to. -
That was after expenses.

If DAC was an honest trustworthy source of info and not some tool that companies use to threaten scared employees than I would agree with you. I would have no hesitation to do what the OP did. Plenty of good companies out there hiring that know about DAC and have no desire to use it.Jroq Thanks this.

It's spelled definitely. Someone should know that if they are critiquing other people.
