That's good. Really looking forward to the orientation. I'm just concerned about my road testing, I have not driven a manual for over a year and a half. So my shifting will be rusty.
Great Plains Transport - A company that cares about drivers... NO BS.

You'll do ok... it was a couple months for me. And we took the company car, a standard... I was trying to double clutch that silly thing... Ben said he saw me... I was like... what the heck, don't confuse me before I have to do the road test!
We have been sitting since we delivered the first drop in Tyler, Texas... now sitting at 2nd drop in Dallas, they don't start receiving until 1:30... so we wait, then after this head to the next drop and probably wait some more... gotta love this 'hurry up and wait' stuff.Cornbread King Thanks this. -
I had the same thing with the pickup on this load, appointment wasn't until 23:00, then got a call from someone in the office saying they got a call from the broker requesting I go in there asap, the shipper usually has the stuff ready early... Got to the shipper and found out they didn't even have some of the stuff made yet!! So much for getting sleep, in addition no one knows where I'm going to be swapping this out so I can go in, more new people I wind up talking to so I don't know who's doing what. Going take my 8 hour split after I get done here and get out of PA.

I am pretty new here also . The pay here .40 is kinda low just 1 cent less than swift for experienced drivers. But for me the long runs make up for the lower pay. But lately the scheduling has been absolutely impossible to make But the dispatchers are easy to work with.

Basically it works out because of the longer mileage in the trips here. Trip planning is really important so you can make the most of your time, especially with winter coming. Just swapped out here in Ohio the picking up a 3 stopper for WNY (my old stomping grounds), it's a short load and the miles this week are a bit short but it gets me home, then hopefully I can get a good start next week.

I definitely prefer the longer loads over 1 penny. And my loads have been just the opposite on time. Like this load, I told them no way I want a load that goes 1000 miles and deliver in 3 days. So they changed it for 1 day early. And that works since I'll be in there tomorrow evening and get my 10 in b4 delivery so I'll b ready to roll.
Guess I've been lucky with dispatch, I've never had a load that I couldn't deliver on time here.
Got to find a grocery store again. That ceramic electric skillet is awesome. Those steaks, veggies, chicken are fantastic and bacon and eggs for breakfast cook up fast and are awesome! Haven't even used the microwave since.ncmickey Thanks this. -
I got a little Coleman grill a few months ago and love it. Easy clean with a couple of paper towels. I have a long extension cord I can run outside the truck if I don't want to smell it up. And easier to deal with the grease outside the truck. But the extra lean beef and chicken breasts don't create a lot of grease.

Well, delivered my 3 stops and headed home until Monday, good thing because I was fighting a nasty wind storm the whole time.

I thought about a bbq grill but this electric skillet does all I need. Wipes out real easy. And can use even when the crappy weather sets in.
Stopped and picked up some grass fed rib eyes and filet mignon and some more bacon and a bigger carton of eggs. I need a bigger freezer!!!
Got a hot water kettle and aeropress also. Best coffee ever!
Just had a steak and broccoli w/cheese. Mmmmm....Mmmmm good. -
Have a good 1 at the house! I'll wait till thanksgiving for a few days.
