I'm a new driver just out of school. Thinking of going with the company system transport. Any thoughts or feedback on the company, whether it's a good one to work for?

I've heard that if you get on the telephone pole account you'll make really good money. You'll be out 6 weeks at a time and its also an overlength load. The trucks are cabovers for that account and they have a crane for removing the telephone poles. Not sure if all the trucks on that account are cabovers, just the ones I've seen have been.

    Same here.

I would like to know the length of their application process between applying and getting an orientation date.

I have done extensive research on System and plan to start orientation in January. I have talked with management former drivers current drivers and drivers I know in the Industry.... The 1 thing I have found is that good or bad they are very direct and matter of fact.. Micromanaged I have not heard that from 1 person I have talked to so seeing it here is the first for me and I have been researching for months. The pole fleet is considered 1 of there best fleets.. They do not actually only haul poles in fact they haul more general commodities more often than poles.. It is the lower 48 and Canada and yes 6 weeks out and longer so if home time is a priority for you then I would look at other divisions. I have heard that the only division that I have been warned to stay away from is NW. which is not a problem for me since I am from Illinois. Also make sure when looking at divisions you look at the hiring area for that division. Poles is basically any where on the I-90 corridor from Spokane to Chicago.

    Hope that helps

They gave you a date? If so, how long did it take?

I applied and I would like to know when should I decide to move on the next opportunity.

Yes actually I filled out an app and pryor to going to cdl school. I followed up with an email I got a reply the following day and they also offered and sent me a pre hire letter. I graduate from school end of december and then after the holidays January 4 I will start orientation. So I would call or email them and tell them you applied and wanted to check on the status..
