Is it me or is the routing getting screwy lately?? Part of the routing they gave me contains two lane roads that don't even connect at all, there's two good interstates routes I could take that equal the mileage they gave me. One previous load about a month ago had me routed through Canada, and we don't even run Canada.
Great Plains Transport - A company that cares about drivers... NO BS.

Not too pleased with dispatch, or what passes for communication in there for the last month. Not even paying attention to when I'm delivering the current load and hours I have left or expecting me to just get loaded or unloaded instantly, and when there is a problem with an appointment, I get promised up and down they are working on it, only to find at the last minute no one did a thing. If this keeps up I'm gonna be demanding to get routed back to the office to talk with someone in person because this lack of coordination is getting out of hand.

I have had the same problems. Routed through downtown with traffic and several lights in stead of an extra couple of miles to take the bypass. Or the senic route thru the mountains or parallel to an Interstate thru small towns for a couple hundred miles. But after I got on the phone the routing was corrected But why the hassles. Why not just say this is the suggested route and the miles it pays. And let us decide. The trip i am on now if I take the Interstate all the way it will be an extra 10 miles instead of slower speeds and stop lights.... The dispatchers I don't think take the time to look at available hours. The way it is now they are just making more work just do it right the first time. I have Internet I know my hours why not let me pick what would work best for me that works at other place's

Usually if it's just a couple of miles out I just take the bypass or whatever runs parallel to the route that will get me to point B with less hassle. It's usually a computer program that comes up with it, but personally I think sometimes it gets used without settings being changed to what this company does, and the software spits it out as just the shortest route. Usually for me it matches the paid miles a bit more, and it's better than that opti-stop crap was at a couple of companies I previously worked for, but sometimes it can get me ripping out what's left of my hair.

I don't pay that much attention to the rout anymore, as long as the miles are close they won't say anything. I am usually within 15 miles on a 1000 mile load. I will say dispatch has been ate up lately though.

Yeah I don't know what's going on..., a couple of the people I thought were gone are back in there, they've been preplanning ok, but lately some of the deadhead, transit times and hours have been getting overlooked. And then there's the brokers...

Sounds like a mess. Unorganized

Yeah... I'm trying to take it all with a grain of salt because for years they've been going through Holland's dispatch, and now since the split theyve basically been starting from scratch... But it gets frustrating at times. I'm not making any decisions until I at least get to my first year anniversary and then I'll see where things are going. I really can't keep switching around, things were going really good for me here up until that split and then it got crazy.

It seems at times the office people are like dogs chasing their tails. Lol. .. They need to just hire exp dispatchers instead of everyone taking turns in there. Or something. Lol
