    No less than .32 cpm

    Why?

Because that's what I started at 12 years ago, and milk and bread have gone up since then.

    Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

What's wrong with being paid hourly? With time and a half after 40

Ok. How do you figure the paid hours for a otr driver? Hours driven? Hours actually worked? Lines 3& 4? All time away from home?

OTR drivers generally don't get paid by the hour they get paid by the mile but I think you'd make more money your first year out of school working for an LTL company than going over the road.

OTR drivers are paid by the mile, not so much the hour unless they are loading, delayed etc. You are not compensated for being on the road and away from home and it comes down to your needs and wants. I would hate driving back and forth over the same roads and that's why I drive OTR, others want a predictable schedule and they go for hourly jobs. It's horses for courses.

I think most LTL companies would let you stay over the road if you didn't want to be at home every night. The pay is usually higher and the benefits are usually much better

Not to mention most Ltl companies take Less out of your paycheck for payment for the benefits.

$800 a month for medical and dental puts a huge dent in somebody's earnings
