I'm headed to orientation tomorrow, for monday, ... don't know yet....
-
I will see you there if your headed to Marshfield.
-
I have been a solo with Roehl in Reeferland since mid-Feb. Became an O/O in late September with a truck I bought outside of Roehl. I have averaged around 2200 miles/week that includes my off time (more than average due to National Guard drills). I only had 1 3 week period in May where miles were hard to get. Most of my runs have been in the Midwest and most freight is East of I35 even for National like me.
If you live in WI you have great opportunities to get home if that is what you want. I live in MN and use our St. Paul Park yard. Drop yards are in WI so you can leave a truck in several spots safely.
As a trainee, you will have to prove you are efficient before you get loads without long delays in between. Be safe and communicate and you will do fine. Don't whine about short loads since they all add up. The less drama you cause the more miles you get.Michelle Trull, Ga Dawg141 and Nate_K Thank this. -
Thanks.
I start orientation on Monday for midwest regional running refrigerated.
I live about an hour from Marshfield right on I-90/94 so getting home for resets should be pretty easy.
Thinking in spring switching to OTR but going east all the time will get old. Would much rather be heading west. -
Nate, I have been to AZ once, TX twice, and MO 3 times. The rest of it is East. That is Roehl's loads.
-
If they can get me out to Arizona 2x a year and maybe Cali once if I go OTR for some off time I would be more than happy heading east the rest of the time.

I currently work for Roehl's midwest reefer division. I'm out 5 to 6 days, home for a 34 hour reset, then back out again. If you can prove yourself, getting 6 loads in a week, you'll see a decent paycheck.
-
What kind if miles are you meaning when you say decent pay and what does that end up being?
-
I usually got around 2800 miles per week (7 days) at Roehl. It seemed like my long runs would be covering weekend runs for a dedicated customer with shorter stuff during the week. After 6 months when I was there the pay was .385/mile but I am sure it has changed since my info is a year old (went Owner Op. in Sep. 15 so no longer cared about company rates.
If you communicate with your dispatchers and take loads, you can do fine at Roehl (and probably most other companies). Companies don't spend over $100k on trucks and $30k on trailers ($40-50 for new reefer trailers) for them to sit and not make money.
