so you would agree if they put cameras in trucks watching you to make sure you are sleeping and not 'cheating or "lying" ? if you walk into the truckstop to take a dump in the middle your 10 hr break do you log out of the sleeper or do you "cheat" and "lie"? lmao

There are plenty of other threads on this site to argue logs.... So this will be my final response here...
Not sleeping during your 10 hr isn't cheating. It's just irresponsible. I log off duty or sleeper berth. Not 'sleeping'... If I'm out of the truck, off duty... In truck , sleeper berth... Do I switch to off duty if I go into the truck stop... Sometimes...yes... Sometimes no...
And no, I don't like cameras. I also think if you want to do paper logs, knock yourself out. I never said I agreed with the recent ruling.
I just said the rules were EXACTLY the same, paper or elogs. To think anything different is denial. Rationalizing why you cheat doesn't change the fact your cheating...
You can cheat a little on elogs too.. It's just usually measured in a few minutes instead of hrs....
I have done paper and elogs. I prefer elogs. I run legal. Magnum uses elogs. Case closed.

My logs are "e" only in the sense they are done electronically on my tablet. So I'm lucky to have the best of both worlds for now. I will personally hold off on elog and Hitler references until elogs systematically murder 6 million people.

I have to admit, I came into trucking later than some...I am curious, did the drivers of yesteryear get this bent out of shape and were just as convinced that trucking was doomed when the CDL became mandatory? Or when q/comm and peoplenet type systems became common in trucks? If people only knew how trackable they are at any given moment, they would realize that elogs are much to do about nothing.

Many drivers left the industry when the CDL came into play, many good drivers will leave the industry when E logs are mandated. I once ran several log books, and swore I would never be on E logs, now I wouldn't go back to paper. Cheating on your log book in this litigious day and age just isn't worth it, and good lawyer will subpoena your cell phone records, if they don't match your log book......you are up the perverbial creek.

ok my last point on the subject, I'm not saying everything is gloom and doom, if i accept elogs its because i will have no choice because drivers have been brainwashed into thinking there safer, if you owned your own truck and trailer would you put elogs in it? i wouldn't see any reason you would put one in your own truck unless you just can't think for yourself, maybe they could protect you from lawsuits when a car hits you but then i would ask if your worried about cars hitting you shouldn't the logs be for cars if it were about safety? ,heck while your at it govern all the cars engines if you want things safer. i accept it for what it is but i can't understand how anyone can defend any kind of log deciding when you should drive and sleep, yes i will accept it but to defend would be to admit i can't think for myself, the line has to be drawn somewhere i understand that, its not for me to decide. one could say the amish don't have all these fatal wrecks and that they are safer but we made our bed and now we will lie in it. "I freed 1000 slaves,i could've freed 1000 more if only they knew they were slaves". be "safe" whatever that means to you.

This thread got derailed by a troll. The troll had no I idea what he was talking about because he had not read the thread.
Now we are having to read posts about e-logs. Magnum runs e-logs so why the debate on this thread? Magnum is not going to change and all their drivers know it and accept it.
I hope this thread can get back on track.
