I don't mind the cold weather. It's just dealing with the snow & ice that makes me nervous. I'm from Texas. We see snow on tv & put ice in our sweet tea. I'm getting use to driving in snow. Haven't really dealt with the icy roads yet. Just makes me alittle nervous that's all.

It's when you think driving on ice is no big deal that you need to really start worrying...

Oh trust me I know... I'm building my confidence but not getting over confident. The day I drive on it like it's nothing, I'll park the truck for good.

I gotta back this up, I had an issue, like lots of first time drivers, with the forst company I worked for. Magnum took me in and they are about the nicest people you could work for . Great equipment , good miles. Only complaint was I live in Tampa FL and they don't run thst far south. Worked there about 13 months and only left to get closer to home. I should have stayed. Anyone have any recommendations for a Local run company near Tampa?

The last couple winters, I think the DFW area has had more ice and icy roads than up here. When I was working for Poly, I thought I would be able to dodge the ice that hits a lot of other parts of the US, but I hit about half of the ones that came thru the DFW area. And those idiots can't drive when the sun is shining, let alone put a good coating of ice on the 100's of bridge/overpass surfaces.

    Winnyf1 Thanks this.

Hey mickey, if your load to Waukegan is coming to address that starts 2105 blahblahblah, don't worry about the fact that Google Maps shows that address as a wooded lot and a lake. The building looks pretty new, so it must be an old satellite view. And if your appointment is for 1400, the lady says they don't do 1400 appts, mine was actually 1500 even though the load info says 1400. But, I already warned Joey not to put me on anything that picks up today, so as long as I can get out of here and get to the T/A at the state line, I'm o.k. with it.

Finally hoping to get back on the road later today, went to pick up the truck from the shop only to discover I had a ground fault in the def system that resulted in a complete replacement of the wiring harness for the system. Add in a recall on the bunk heating system and that's me shut down for the day.
Ah well, I guess an extra day of sometime, but that means a bit tighter on the pay side coming out of the holiday. Picking up in St. Louis, dodging the water and heading for Moorhead - hopefully Nick and I can find a nice load to keep me moving! Looking forward to getting back in the truck - its weird when I'm away for a week, I start missing it LOL.

I would rather drive in a blizzard in the Midwest than a flurry in Dallas. At least I can be somewhat sure the soccer mom next to me has some clue on what to do.

The Mrs and I just barely missed that shot on our way to meet my folk in OKC to drop the midget off. Had pouring rain the whole time and a bunch of accidents, but both us and my folks managed to get in and out before ICE hit the south again. Even just missed the tornado in Garland as we went thru.
