I have been trucking for awhile. Ran my own authority for while, got out of trucking for a bit, and now back at it. These brokers and agents are killing us on rates. I've seen loads on load boards for a 1.00/mile including fsc. Guess what, some moron took it!! How in the heck do you take a load for 1.00?!! Wake up people, start saying no or not calling these people. Let these loads sit so they will understand they need to raise the rates! Drivers are killing each other when they do this. These agents are making more money on the loads than you, the driver, the person doing the work is making!! Duh!! We all need to come together and let these shippers, agents, brokers, etc. Know that we don't work for free!
SAY NO TO CHEAP FREIGHT, PEOPLE!!!

Technically, the pie is getting small for everybody. I don't know how, but something is going on. You shouldn't have bought a truck right now, because, this economic mess is about to be dragged for another year. Mock my words. Some big government is gonna break.

I refuse to haul loads under my magic #. Found wheat out of ks today for $1.08 a mile. Laughed at them. They can move it in their wheelbarrow for all i care.

I see a lot of these posts but you guys do realize large trucking companies use the same brokers and boards you do right?? Those might be the idiots who took it but doesn't mean it was an 1 truck operator all the time...
freight-time and windsmith Thank this. -
The moron that's hauling all the buck or sub-buck a mile freight is the one with bunge cords and duck tape holding there truck together.
producelove85 Thanks this. -
Exactly. There is plenty of freight out there still. But, some of these drivers are just taking whatever they can get and for nothing. In return, not only makes all of the other rates lower, these brokers and agents are listing these loads for cheap because these drivers will take them. Nonsense! I understand that if the wheels aren't turning, you're not earning. But come on! I was looking at Landstars load board today, and I s--t you not, an agent had a load on there for $.60/mile, $.12/mile fsc, that weighed 42,000 lbs. going 868 miles. I called and asked if it was an error and she said no, that is what the shipper sent to her. I call B-ll S--t on that. I told her that if she finds someone to haul that load, please call me and let me know so I can hire him to drive for me! Then she said good bye.

you must have called that girl that sounds like Marge Simpson's sister in Laredo, Sometimes another agent will have the same load as her and it'll be a buck or $2 higher.
