So ... with your authority your wallet doesn't open up, as you say, for fuel, maintenance, and tires? And I guess if a customer calls and you don't take the load then it doesn't get offered to anyone else? I know you'll also tell us that Mercer's discount on tires and fuel is insignificant and somehow you have the magic formula and get it even cheaper. Sounds like you should have a late night infomercial selling the super secrets of trucking to the misinformed masses of lease operators out there who are so woefully uneducated.

Remind us why you are coming and preaching to Mercer (or Landstar) drivers who are way happier than average in their relationship with the company. Mercer is the only place I've seen where there are so many people that have had their own authority, as single trucks and also having several trucks, and who now all say they are much happier working under Mercer's numbers than their own.

Perhaps your real talent lies in a government job, you seem quite suited for it since you have made up your mind that the only way for any of the rest of us to be both happy and profitable in our trucking careers is they way you do it, there is no other way. Classical government one-size-fits-all mentality.

Forgive those of us who will, in our ignorance, continue to thrive, prosper, and enjoy our time at Mercer. Seriously, we really don't need your help!

That's where I'll nail you down. I promote and I firmly believe in capitalism and true entrepreneurship. I see the industry year by year getting more centralized. Either company drivers operating for the big wigs or lease operators operating for the big wigs that's the way it's going. My point is simple. You don't have to have mercer or Landstar or an of the other outfits on your truck to be successful. There's access to freight in this nation that we live in if your willing to stand up for yourself and run your business. Don't run around behind under Mercers skirt get you some dice and come to the table and roll don't let other people do it for you. If there was ever a example of collectivism your looking at it. As far as my wallet opening upabsolutlely it does. The big difference in my eyes is I'm the one handling the money. If its needed that someone do that for you then the standard of the industry is compromised

There's that us crap again. I don't know how else to put it. I move freight for Customers that use MeRcer as well. That's where I get my reasons for saying what I do. They consistently drive down the standard in the flat bed industry. I'm a witness to it then in the winter they all want to be carpetbaggers and go pull ups freight
