Seriously if you get a load for PFG Empire in Miami Florida, tell them No thank you. This place is seriously tiny, I don't know how to describe how small it really is other than saying if you had a day cab with a 53 foot you might get in here without any problems. Seriously tell people here what is going to take you an hour to get on the door. And if you come here and I say take door 17 or 18 forget it you ain't getting in there!

Been there, you are sooo right ! Place sux !!

I just looked at it on Google maps and that's ridiculous... They should have straight trucks delivering there...

No light trailers on 80 from Laramine to Rawlins due to 50+ not winds. I only have 23k in the box, so, yeah screw that I'm parking at the Pilot in Larmine. Already sent a message to my DM saying that it ain't all that safe to pull 23k in 50+ winds ontop of the ice/snow covered road.
I'm another note....I wish Carrier would have included some kind of engine heater on the APU. My and one other I know of, it does not want to start when it is really cold out. Maybe I could take some flex pipe and put it over the truck exhaust, let it warm the APU so it will start and then take the flex pipe off.Last edited: Feb 1, 2016
Kamkor, crxdc and Steel Tiger Thank this. -
If they didn't put the #### things on cheaply and instead plumbed them to the truck coolant system like they should be, you wouldn't really have that problem as the big engine would keep the little one warm. Then overnight the apu would keep the coolant warm for the big engine. Also the apu wouldn't overheat as easy in the summer with the bigger reservoir of coolant to draw from.Steel Tiger and MachoCyclone Thank this.

The APU doesn't keep the truck engine warm. It may share the coolant, but that little water pump on the APU cannot cycle all the engine coolant thru the APU & the engine. Its just now powerful enough. Now the reverse way, engine keeping APU warm so it starts up easier in winter holds true, but I have a closed loop system on my TK and have never had an problem starting it up when its 10 degrees outside. It may struggle for a few seconds, but it fires up and runs like a champ with the Espar heater keeping the inside of my cab nice and toasty.
As far as summer time goes, I have found that one of the biggest culprits to be a dirty condenser/radiator on the APU. Be sure to have that blown out regularly so as to keep the air flow going to keep it cool. -
There's actually 2 different types of Carrier ComfortPro APU. You have an integrated system and a stand alone system.

Same with the TK

How do you all fuel for each trip?

The glow plugs are junk in these Carriers. I replaced mine, now it starts within three cranks even in subzero conditions.
