New horizons with Holland Enterprises (Fargo,ND)

I've been running "good", not busting my balls. The kind of running I've seen the last 3 months, on balance, is the kind of running that you can do long term and not get burnt out, and still average 3,000 paid miles per week, with a few weeks at about 2900, and some with 3,400. My point is it's consistent running on balance. Every now and then I'll find myself with more then 18 hours available on my 70 [recap] but I'm able to have 11+ hour days most any time I need or want them, with "limited time" days not often hitting at bad times.

 

My xm radio was turned off last night. Got to make a call this morning and see what's up.
Down to 17 on my 70. And only get back 12 for the next 2 days. Need a slow run or just sit here for a reset. I usually can get one in but two shorter runs doesn't give me that time to get there really enough to reset.

 

I am interested in Holland. They called and said application was accepted and to call when I make my decision. The only snag I have is a post where a driver stated he made a little over 50K per year. I would appreciate any input on what gross pay can be. I like to stay out 3 to 4 weeks at a time. Thanks.

 

If I'm not mistaken there's been other driver said they've been able to make right at or close to sixty thousand a year with Holland

 

The reason I'm concerned is if I run weeks at a time, long length of haul runs, hauling frozen foods that require more time and attention than general freight, and if I can't make more than 60k, I'm kinda left scratchin' my head.

 

It seems like OTR pay is way low under 65k to live in a truck and only have like 4 days off a month. Im not dissing Drivers who like that it just seems like they are under paid for the commitment they give.

 

There's really no money in this at the moment. I made 75k last year and was home every weekend and usually a night or two during the week. Out and back from Iowa with ltl for a private fleet. What's pathetic is it's the same money I made 9 years ago when I started with them. There's been a few pay raises but there's also been changes in the operation that have cut into my personal productivity and of course e-logs. Even for 65k I don't know how anyone sticks with an OTR job for long. All the uncompensated time would drive me insane. If your not getting paid for every stop your getting screwed imo.
I hope you guys that like that stuff get some more raises because it seems like that's the only thing that's going to get me one at this point. When the herd starts catching up.

 

The whole industry is like that. Unfortunately it's so cutthroat that the big companies undercut the good smaller outfits who are forced to compete for the crap rates.

 

Bottom line is you will average 3,000 miles per week @ 38.5 cents, plus an additional 4 to 5 cent performance bonus paid quarterly. And, you will not be micro- managed. You do the math.

Take it or leave it but it IS a true over-the-road job. Nothing more nothing less. You'll run ALL 48 states with no haz-mat.

Plus there are a few other perks such as APU and paid XM and loaded DirecTV which may or may not mean anything to you.
