Heading to school with Millis in a little bit. Got a 4 hour drive to the hotel. And I'm a nervous wreck hahaha
I'm all in on this sold everything I can and have a heck of a lot riding/depending on my future. It's been a struggle to get to this point to just have the money! I hope all goes well, for everyone heading to class this Monday

Keep a positive attitude even if things start to suck. Remember your end goal. Best of luck and keep us updated driver!

You'll do great, just by the fact you're on this website and taking the effort to make 41 posts before you even go shows how interested in this industry you are. I know this because I was the same way, not so many posts before school but I read this forum on a daily basis and came out ahead in class.

You're showing initiative which means you enjoy it, so as long as you keep it that way, you're eyes will be bright in the class and you'll suck in as much information as you can and have fun. I know I did. The first couple days on the road can really be nerve wracking (honestly). But once you get past moving that monstrous machine for a couple days it's really not hard at all. Just takes time to get used to something so big. But other than that... nothing to be nervous about man. Just deep breathe and have fun.

I remember my first day out in the country.. It's winter time, just a little bit of frost on the grass on either side of the 2 lane highway. No ice on the road, but my instructer wanted to screw with us a bit. So as he's driving out to the country and coming to a stop for us to switch (remember, first day out of the concourse gate, none of us had driven yet). He was going about 25MPH and he looked over at me and said he was depressing the brake and nothing was happening because of the ice on the road.... Needless to say that wasn't the case and he never let me live down how scared he said I looked, haha.

Nowdays it's all a peace of cake, just gotta keep paying attention to everything around you and you should do fine.

I start CDL school tomorrow Monday 2/8/16 and am nervous, anxious and excited all rolled up into one big ball of tension. Will be going to Drive-Train in Dyersburg/Jackson TN. Watched this forum, Truckingtruth forum and youtube videos on everything from pre-trip to shifting up/down Cabbage, Grapevine and Donner. I dont know if I will be prepared or overwhelmed but I am going to give it my all and shoot for the my best. I will be an indentured servant to Schneider for awhile (paying for school) but I might stay with them if they turn out to be a good company for me and my goals. I appreciate all the good advise and interesting stories I have seen on here and elsewhere. Best of luck to all those doing to school soon and be well and be safe to everyone.

    JG...
