I get that, yet when I'm in a good area, and call my agents, there's nothing available for me other than crap going to bad areas. Probably because I'm trying to avoid the crap they give me in good areas. Or maybe they just don't like me. That's fine, just let me Make enough so that there's nothing on my credit that lexington law will have to remove later. I want to leave CRST without causing THEM negative numbers, I'm just a nice, understanding, sacrificial, and patient individual like that, but I'm not so meek that I can't say goodbye to something that doesn't fill my cup back up at least to half way, after I dumped it all out for them.
Why do truckers (or companies) really need brokers, & what could be done to limit the use of them?

Nobody owes you anything. Most drivers, including company drivers are making more than you. That fact alone should tell you something.

Is this for real?
I'll say, I am not an owner operator or lease-purchase driver, but driver, you need to sign back up for DAT. You can search more than just your current location.
You need to locate loads nearest you going somewhere and then look at whats coming from that area as well that way when you book a load there you can see what you can get out of there.
I certainly would think you could find some loads around/near Fort Wayne. You have Indianapolis, South Bend, Coldwater, Jackson, Detroit, Findlay, Toledo, Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Louisville... All around..
You should be able to find some decent loads.Flipflops Thanks this. -
why would you haul a load for 1.28 leave the cheap stuff on the dock
-
Freight on the board in in and oh is up pretty good right now
-
I would think you would be better off pulling Malone's customers freight. If you pull your companies direct freight you only lose 25% of the line haul. But pulling loads off the public load boards the Brokers taking a cut then what ever price you negotiate with the broker, Malone takes there 25% of that rate. That's how your 1.66 load goes to 1.28 pm. You are swimming against your companies current, find a way to work with them and you will see improvements in your settlements.
SheepDog and rollin coal Thank this. -
Don't go with Mercer. Their rates and O/O numbers have gone way down.

TQL doesn't have a lot of loads. They just post in all the neighboring cities and towns for hundreds of miles as well as the receiving end. So, most of the time, you're calling on a load that doesn't exist. It's just the same load posted 50 different ways.
CRST's loads pay squat, so get out of there as fast as you can.
Mercer is no better. Do some homework on carriers. Get your accessorials (tarp, layover, detention pay, etc.) before you go on any load. Don't fall for that crap, "we'll have to see what we can get" or "we pay you when they pay us" crap.
Learn where the dead areas are and stay out of them or get paid like crazy to go there so you can come back empty to where you can get a load.
And brokers are like truckers and cops. There are good ones and bad ones. You have to find the good brokers that take care of their truckers ($$$$) and keep their phone numbers locked in your phone. The others - they're just out to make all they can and they don't care if you make it or not. Just tell them to find somebody else to haul their cheap freight. I love telling them where to go. I'm a broker myself (and run under my own authority) and pay my truckers well. So, when I need a truck, I know my guys will be answering their phone when they see my number. That's the way a smart broker works. When trucks are tight, I'll always find a truck. And when TQL calls, I don't answer the phone. They're a crooked bunch and I'm tired of their lies and unwillingness to pay for detention when their hot loads go sour. Bye TQL! Hope you're reading this!Flipflops Thanks this. -

Where on ITS are you seeing $1.80PM loads??? Sure, I have seen $2 + for short hauls but that is it. I got blessed with the load I am on now that pays about $1.85 with 2 stops and a final, not tarp though. Other than that,,,where are all the $2PM loads? Heck, I can find those kind of runs but only if I am in the right area, but getting back to that area is a joke... I am in LA right now and 90% of the loads are going to TX for $1pm or CA for less.. I found two loads going to GA and only got ahold of one, paying $1pm... I will DH home, before I pay to haul.
