I was up in sc a few weeks ago. Emptied out on a Thursday. Couldn't find a load to save my life going anywhere. Friday afternoon approached me.....we left together heading south deadheading home. Threw 200 bucks in the tank an hit the road an tried it again the following week. I know it's slow but I'll come out better going home

Actually you said that the agent told you that you would lose your board position if you took the load to California. Which isn't true. And if you were 36 on Wednesday then once you took the load to California and dropped I'm almost positive you wouldn't be 36th on the board.

To set the record straight, no I wouldn't have sat in California for a week in a half. I don't take loads out west without prebooking a load or plan on running around on the west coast. I drop on Monday in Fresno and I'm reloading the following morning going back home. Read a few days back and you will see, had the agent not called me asking me to take the load back to my house I planned on running up to Oregon or back and forth to Phoenix.

I know how to work the system to my advantage!

I salute the fact that you do know how things work. I'm not certain if you were looking for a p%ssing match or not but I don't entertain those.

An yes I was prepared to run the west coast for a couple of weeks. That was my purpose for going. But I wasn't gonna run one local load per week an sit 4 days after each delivery an from the looks of it that's where I was headed. The evidence of it was me sitting in Arizona 4 days with no load.

Not a contest. Just making sure you understood how the system works. I totally understand running local and then sitting. Most times I run back and forth to Phoenix out of LA or from the bay area. Obviously there were many drivers doing that or you wouldn't have had a problem. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.

I had planned on sitting out there for at least 3 weeks an just work the local board. But sitting in AZ for almost a week an then being offered a subpar load over to Cali at the end of the week I was pretty much done with the west coast lol.
$10 a day parking was adding up.
I should've know something wasn't right because every truck stop in Phoenix was FULL 24/7. Same trucks were in the same parking spaces 3 days later.

I think the popular consensus is that if someone is sitting it's because they did something wrong, that's not always the case. The load board shows loads, it doesn't show trucks. You don't know how well you will line up to your next load until you book the first load, one monkey wrench in your game plan and it's barbecue time.
